Where did all this weight come from? I used to weigh between 110-115 lbs, I gained about 30 lbs... what did I go wrong? I don't eat any different. I could exercise more. I have physical disabilities, fibromyalgia, sciatica, anxiety, and depression. I weigh 164 lbs, I've always been skinny that's why I'm so desparate to lose this weight.
I've got this attitude "I've GOT to lose this weight!" Help.
Not to change the subject but I thought I'd let you all know that I had to go to the emergency room this afternoon I fell in the bathroom I was putting toilet paper away under the sink and I slipped and fell. Some how I had one foot in one position and of what seemed to me is I twisted right foot (bad side), I cried and cried like a baby.
They found I had broke my foot in three different places I was like OMG I couldn't believe it because I've never had a broken bone in my life. The final diagnosis was Metatarsal fracture.
I'm to have it on for 4-6 weeks I hope it's only four weeks that's all I can handle. It's going to be hard when it comes to taking a shower, trying to find something plastic to cover the cast.

Hi girls, are you all following me? lol ; ) I'm glad I have such supportive friends. I know this time is going be hard. I'm going to start eating right. I've thought about my meds, and yes the Lyrica caused the problem. I've got high cholesterol is borderline I'm satified because the first time I had it checked was 500 this as back in 2002. I'm on Crestor. I have Acid Relux I'm taking Prilosec, I've got underactive bladder, I'm borerline asthma - on Advair and ProAir, and Vitamin D deficiency. I take Melatonin for sleep aide.
I don't know how to count calories, carbs, sugar and salt intake not to mention sodium. I talked with my husband about this, I said we need to eat right. My husband has diabetes, he did have a hard adjusting to his eating, this was back in 2004, that was when he's doing real good.
I have had my thyrorid and hormones checked everything came back normal. I've had my medication adjusted--- numerous of times. I have a appt with my family doctor on Friday I'm going to mention about my thyroid, hormone and the shocking sensation in left leg mention about a stronger pain meds.

I hear you loud and clear. My meds keep me with high water weight. Being sedentary doesnt give a chance to burn calories. Add to that type2 diabetes from the meds, and I too went from skinny to pot belly. Prednisone does that. Docs say if they get me off them my weight will drop. Can't use water pills as my kidneys are already strained.
However, it is a fact of aging that women gain about five pounds per decade. Hormones, you know. Then you hit menopause and the metabolism slows even more. I am 5'10" and consistently weigh 185. Before the illness seven years ago I was 150. At height of disease I was 204. Legs and arms are skinny, all in the middle. Jiggles like a bucket of jello. Dieting does not work. I am not careful with salt intake, and often eat whatever I feel like. Food has no taste on high dose pred. Food is uninteresting on lower doses because I hurt. Have to eat extra protein as my body is destroying it.
How does that help? Just letting you know you aren't the only one fighting this battle. It does help to see a dietician, which your doc should prescribe/refer you. It can be a real eye opener to see what the world considers a portion to be. Even watching them do it on TV is not the same. I suggest lots of veggies and fruit, smaller amount protein, no big burgers except as a treat once in a while. Sweets, bye bye. White bread and rolls, toodles. Moderation. And accept what is. slow goals and consistent correct diet will get you there.

hey Blondie, apparently pledge and I are reading each others minds today, as he said almost exactly what I was thinking. I do know you have some serious conditions and I too, gained about 30 lbs while on suboxone. Part of it is the medication, or was, as I am off now, but some of it is my age and hormones too. My dr even agreed to let me "cheat," and use a diet clinic. I picked about 15 more lbs up after getting off subs, despite walking regularly. I have been on Didrex aka benzphetamine, and have lost 20 of it. The diet dr is actually a caring retired ob gyn and he requires you to sit thru a speech he has about dieting, calorie burning and such and it is a great speech. He said you have to reduce your caloric intake to 1,200 to 1,500 per day, to lose weight and a calorie is a calorie, and unless you have a metabolic disorder, like diabetes, they all burn the same. This means carbs or fat calories burn the same.
My cholesterol was a bit high and my liver enzymes and most of my weight is in the mid section, so I also did the diet thing to reduce cholesterol and lessen the symptoms of GERD caused by excessive weight near my mid section. If you feel you have to lose weight now, please ask your dr before going to diet clinic as you do have some medical conditions that might interfere with this idea. I have been eating less take out and more fruit and fresh raw vegetables, and NO. I am not a health nut, by a long shot, it has helped me lose 20 lbs in 2 months. The med is only an appetite suppressant, dr said if you eat the same way, and expect the rx to BURN the weight off, it won't. It just helps curb your appetite. You may have picked up some water weight, one gallon of water weighs 8lbs. Meds sometimes do cause water weight gain. Patti

Abby, don't you take Lyrica? It is known for weight gain. I had gained 25 lbs myself being on Lyrica. Just a thought... Mary(It's gone now since I got off of it too)

Hello Abby. It might be the medication(s) that you are taking for your various ailments. Or perhaps another guess on my part you are ageing and your body is changing to adapt to the ageing process. Regards pledge
