... of 160, dangerously high blood pressure and high glucous blood levels. My eyes felt like they were about to pop out of my head, I couldn't stop shaking and sweating and my menstrual cycle is out of wack. I am feeling a lot better than last week but still have a high glucose blood level. Does anyone know if I have done any permanent damage and how long it will take to normal blood glucose levels again? Thanks for your help. :-)
I had a cortisone injection in my ribs 4 1/2 weeks ago. At week 3 I had to go to hospital with a HR?

Cortisone can drive your blood glucose thru the roof. The cortisone they use for that is long acting, and its going to take a while for it to stop effecting you. Usually these things straighten out once the cortisone is out of your body.
Thanks very much for your help- puts my mind at rest a bit. The doc said no side effects- sheeesh! lol. At least I've learned to go and research what doctors recommend before agreeing to it. :-)
I was concerned about the same thing but went ahead and had a steroid shot in my ankle last week. It raised my blood sugar levels about 60 points for two days, and only helped with the pain for those two days also. Very disappointing, but glad my sugar levels didn't spike like yours. Hope you get better soon - ElizaJane
Personally, I wouldn't trust any doctor who tells me that any drug or medical procedure has NO side effects. Even drugs, medical procedures, etc., with the lowest side effect profiles STILL have a SMALL chance of certain people experiencing side effects!
Also, I hope you're feeling better soon! Were you given anything to counteract the cortisone while it's still in your system until it's totally flushed out of your body?
Thanks for your comments :-) Doctors gave me beta blockers and a little glucose level tester- apart from that just waiting for it to get out of my system. Definately feeling stronger this week but still having eye pain and having to avoid anything that might spike my glucose levels again.
Glad that you're feeling better! I hope that you don't go back to that doctor though!
