I was on Alprozalam from"98"-"04",but the pharmacy stopped carrying the brand(Roache),and the new generic they had was like taking candy, did nothing for anxiety. My Pshyc explained that the filler in the various generics was the difference, and he started me on name brand in "04". I've been taking 8 mg a day for the past 7 years. I have new insurance now and they will only pay 50% per script of name brand.I can't afford the 400.00 a month to stay with name brand. So I'm trying to find out what brands are the most popular in the group.I take Xanax for extreme GAD,and it also helps with bi-polar,BPD,COD,PTSD,sleeping and eating disorders as well.Any answers would be greatly appreciated!!

The generic is alprazolam and to get the best one, ask for Greenstone. That's the first drug company to make alprazolam, and my dr. said you get more of the product. He said that a company could make alprazolam and sometimes put less of the drug in the product. They have to use so much, but Greenstone is supposed to do the best.
GAD, generalized anxiety disorder is what doctors call it. I was told by a specialist that xanax is not your friend. Although it makes you feel better it does something to you internally. Your organs can suffer and that alone scared me. With the help of my doctor I had to go thru the tapering off and was giving escitalopram. It took over 3 weeks into the 4th week to feel something and my understanding is it takes 4 to 6 weeks to feel the full effects. The doctor told me to don't stop taking it that it will help me. My advice is to listen to your doctor they know and they can help. I am now getting out more and doing things to help to distract your thinking. Do things that gives you pleasure. We have to find our confidence back which anxiety robs us of it. I'm planning a trip maybe in 2 weeks not to far from home maybe 50 miles just to see if I can. Take your time and step out on faith. :-) !!
What is had. I am terrified to drive out of town. I'm scared of getting lost. I don't like to go anywhere. I used to go everywhere and drove state to state. Help
GAD NOT HAD
I went through a lot of different generic alprazolam tablets been on them for six years now and activist is great here are used to be my favorite they’re the circle blues and then green stone brand because they are a subsidiary of Pfizer and made the same lab and the brand-name Xanax but now I’ve come to love Sandoz those the most right up along with Dava which is now par Pharmaceuticals but there’s a green bars with S 90 3 and the green footballs s 902 You can’t go wrong with any of these trust me a lot of people disagree but the new Breckinridge blue bar brands are my least favorite
I have been on benzodiazepines since I was 14. Xanax since I was 17. I'm 36. Yeah, I know. I've had maybe 2 years I took a break (not by choice). Anyhow, when I was on 2 milligrams it was always the yellows. Now I’m on 1 mg and I always have Walgreen’s order Greenstone brand. I saw someone say here (posted on this page) greenstones dissolve under your tongue, the ones made after 2014? What?! Not true! I've had one month, maybe two where they seemed... stale (for a lack of a better word) They’re better than Mylan 1mg. Not sure about other strengths.
STAY AWAY FROM MYLAN- period.
!! especially 1 MG!!! It’s like taking a placebo. Idc what anyone says. I had been off my meds for a year - a YEAR, and took a Mylan 1 mg alprazolam and felt like I took a sugar pill.
The reason I came across this page is because my pharmacy ran out of greenstone and they only have activis and ugh MYLAN.. so I have a partial fill that I have to fill with them. I can request they order something else. Not sure what. Is sandoz still manufactured? Or should I take the activis? Any feedback appreciated. They’ll have my greenstone next month. It’s just a 20 day supply of activis I’d have to take. It’s worth a shot, right?
Greenstone has a website & you can find out the closest pharmacy that carries them. I spent a lot of time about 2 years ago researching all the generics. Some of them have changed over the years. Mylan used to be great. I was taking Sandoz until CVS started using the Indian company Aurobindo. Do not touch those. I've never gotten any prescriptions from Walgreens but neither Kroger nor Walmart in my area will order a generic. They will only order brands. You're lucky there. I would try to find the nearest pharmacy that carries Greenstone or see if your insurance covers the brand. Albertsons carries Greenstone if you have those in your area. I don't know if they will order them or not. Because of the pandemic & the fact I had to change doctors after 10 years, I just get the brand. I guess I'm lucky, it only costs me $8. But it's ridiculous how much insurance is paying since Greenstone is exactly the same. Right now I would only take the brand or Greenstone.
Ok I am also having this dilemma I am prescribed 120 2mg Xanax a month and like she was saying the name brand without insurance is $800. I read some reviews and people recommended greenstone and that is actually my least favorite generic I find myself having to take more and more frequent I do not know who makes the yellow ones with r039 on them but they worked better than the green stone. I changed pharmacies from Walgreens to Publix because of location and travel issues and it was the worst decision of my life I regret changing them from Walgreens because they had the yellow ones but if anyone has any more suggestions besides green stone and if they think that's the best then maybe there's something wrong with me
I don't know about 2mg. I take 1mg. Greenstone is owned by Pfizer and their 1mg is exactly like the brand. I would try Sandoz. Right now it's the only one I can think of that is close, but I haven't taken one in over 2 years. I'm sorry you don't have insurance.
I have found when it comes to the 1 mg Xanax any of the ones that are not blue the green ones are the best especially when it comes 2 the two ones the blue 1mg ones are the ones that don't hardly do anything at all I found any other color of the 1M ones work the best but especially the green ones and 1 mg or 2mg
Your body works in a strange/ different way IMHO Or could it be in your mind ?
GD
Don’t listen to the people who answer it’s all in your mind, they’re obviously trolls trying to tell us that we don’t know what we’re talking about. I say, don’t allow those type answers on here…not helpful. Thank you.
Your question needs to be more specific. Are you asking what is a good generic to Xanax, basically who makes good generic drugs? Or are you asking what is a good alternative to Xanax? And if that's the question, are you looking for something in the same drug class? Or something that is not a Benzodiazepine?
I never have found any generic to brand name. I did have my doctor write an appeal to the insurance company and that brought the cost down. Sometimes you have to write more than one appeal, i’ve Even called the insurance company several times explaining how long i’ve been on name brand and my psych sent back up info. Keep trying, they might lower the fee. The last time I tried genericGreenstone The delivery system kicked it in too fast and it wore off too fast and I had 3 hrs of extreme muscle withdrawal pain. So I bite the bullet and pay for name brand - with further discount due to my drs appeal letter. Good luck !
The Xanax brand worked as prescribed for years. When my insurance no longer covered brand names I had to switch to generics. Sandoz was almost equivalent. Sun and Mylan generic Xanax worked to some degree. The worst generic is the Breckenridge. It is absolutely ineffective for anxiety. It may make you sleepy but you will still be too anxious to fall asleep. It does nothing to calm or relax you. Ineffective. Do not get Breckenridge. It should not be on the market. It does not work.
Based on my research and taking Xanax (alprazolam) 2mg rectangular tablets for over 14 years, I would ask your pharmacist to order you the Greenstone manufactured white rectangular tablets of alprazolam 2mg. I am confident that your reaction will be similar to Name Brand Xanax 2mg.
Greenstone is a subsidiary of Pfizer and also manufacturers the Name Brand Xanax 2mg white white rectangular tablets for Pfizer (who acquired Pharmacia UpJohn). Greenstone's stamp is similar to Name Brand Xanax from Pfizer, except with a "G 3722" imprint and no number "2" on reverse side. IMHO, (best to worst) Xanax, Greenstone, Sandoz, Actavis, Breckenridge, Mylan and the Teva generics. FYI, authorized generics must have between 80-110% bioavailibility of Xanax itself and must contain 2mg of alprazolam.
Good answer.

Is there anyway we can voice our complaints to the FDA? Not that I expect the FDA to act; but at least to get our complaints about ineffective generics on the record?
When greenstone was bought out (yes, it was owned by name Xanax but xanax decided it no longer wanted to deal with generics) it no longer worked for me. Huge difference. You may have ran into an old supply of greenstone ? But I think it was 2015 when greenstone was no longer owned by xanax and we all went into subtle withdrawals. Sandoz is currently the best generic. Tried all. I only know the 2mg pill. I was on it for about a year and then every pharmacy in my area switched to new greenstone which is now worse than sandoz. All the nurses at my drs office said everyone came in w subtle withdrawals. The drs act like they know nothing. I have no idea if they are playing dumb. Why would all the nurses know & not the drs. Odd. So since I can't get sandoz anywhere anymore I'm on greenstone and live with subtle constant withdrawals. Shaking. Not bad nite mares. Most drs don't care about us. If you want to be pill free look up s g b shot. I have to save for it. Big pharma will never tell you about this shot.
Considering how screwed up the FDA is, I doubt this is important to them. One other reason is that generic drugs are not only becoming as expensive as brands, but they are also changing the filler. So, the FDA is approving substandard generic drugs of all kinds. I refuse to take generics anymore. I'm lucky I don't take a lot of drugs, but I just started taking other drugs than Xanax and I know this is probably going to be a problem as I get older. But the FDA is overwhelmed right now.
I changed to the generic made by Greenstone which is owned by Pfizer who makes Xanax & then I got the brand for my next & current refill & I can tell no difference. I was taking the generic made by Sandoz which is what I'm looking for, but if you want Alprazolam which is exact to Xanax, ask your pharmacist to get your RX from Greenstone.
Two thumbs up for Generic Xanax Manufacturer Greenstone Lic.
Greenstone generic Xanax is the only one that helps me, the rest are sour candy IMO. I had a hard time finding a pharmacy that would special order them for me but finally found one that would. They are made by the same company as brand name Xanax. I take 5mg a day to keep me off the ceiling from severe panic and anxiety disorder.
I know Greenstone is a sub of Pfizer but to me, they have changed over the years. I remember taking it in the past & it was just fine but I was taking Sandoz & boy there is a huge difference. I can't find Sandoz so I'm going back on Xanax. Do you have Kroger grocery stores where you live because they prescribe Greenstone?
I've heard good things about Valium but eight mg of Xanax a day seems high to me. I'm not sure of what amount (milligrams) would be equivalent tho. It's easy to research.

I hope this helps
