Are you seeing a gastroenterologist for your diverticulitis? I went through a horrific bout with it 2 months ago. They gave me 2 strong antibiotics. Then I was prescribed Bentyl, an anti-spasmodic, to take with meals.
If you have fever with it, that is an indication that it is infected again. Please go to the doctor. I have had some terrible pain with it, and I ended up in the ER. Don't let it go untreated.
I would not take aspirin as it tends to make your stomach bleed. I take only tylenol. Please let me know how you're doing. "G"
I totally agree with G mc.
my diverticulitis was not diagnosed for a year. During that time, the diverticulitis advanced to a fistula being formed to my vagina and bladder. I kept having UTIs...
Finally stool coming from my vagina .
I had massive abdominal surgery last week... 10 hours with 3 surgeons.
It developed from adhesions that formed after reconstruction from my breast cancer.
I never would have consulted if I knew how extensive it was of a surgery.
I thought they just took the abdominal fat and used it for breast tissue.
It was sold to me as a free tummy tuck.
They used my major abdominal muscles which complicated this surgery.
I thought I was doing it the natural way by avoiding implants.
Get the infection cleared ASAP.
As I sit here trying to recover and take care of an ileostomy.
I'm so sorry to hear what you have gone through, Windchimes. Why did it take them a year to finally decide that you had diverticulitis? What were your symptoms? Did you have any symptoms to alert anyone to the fact that you were developing a fistula? Could you have avoided the fistula if they had been on top of your symptoms and treated you sooner? I've heard of the fistula thing before. And stuff coming out the vagina? How does that happen? What made you go back to the doctor?
I was in bad pain in my lower RIGHT pelvic area, not the typical left side where most people get the pain. It was 2 months ago, I had a CT scan with barium, a round of 2 antibiotics, levaquin and flagyl. Then 2 weeks later, I had a colonoscopy. He said I didn't have an abscess. Then, a week later, I had to go to the ER. All they did there was give me another CT scan with no barium, and some x-rays. They gave me some Bentyl and some pain pills. I am still in pain.
I thought I would feel a lot better by now.
Did your doctor tell you to eat a special diet?
I don't trust the treatment I was given. Because I am still in pain, I'm afraid something is still going on down there. But I don't want to go back to the same gastroenterologist. I also use Miralax. Are you in pain?? "G"
