I started Wellbutrin 4 days ago and I have been experiencing some weird side effects. I feel like my whole body is swirling and I get this heavy pressure in my ears and head. It feels like my forehead and eyes are being squashed together towards the end of the day. Also I am twitching and jerking more than was I used to. I have a twitch as it is because of my Paxil but usually I can control it better. Also I am not sleeping more than a few hours at night... Does that go away? I don't feel anything else but wasn't sure if this is normal. I would call my doctor but they aren't in till monday... Any ideas?
Anyone experience heavy side effects during the first week or two on Wellbutrin?

Hi,
Everyone reacts differently to different drugs... and while I take Wellbutrin without any side effects, I did experience similar side effects when I increased my dosage from 150 to 300 mg. too quickly (it seems that with many anti-depressant drugs you have to start at a lower dosage and work up to the right dosage)... But do at least (if you can) ask your pharmacist and whether or not Wellbutrin and Paxil can be used well and safely together, then phone your doc 1st thing Mon.
Dear ad... Did you ever get used to the 300 mg dose? If so, how long did it take?
Thanks, PG
Hi,
When I got the side effects from increasing the dosage too quickly, I actually stopped taking it for 2 or 3 days to let everything get back to normal. then I went back to 150mg. for about 3 weeks, which gave my body time to get used to the drug then went back up to 300mg. without any issues except a bit of nausea which I get around by taking it at night.
Dear ade,
Amazing you can take Wellb at nite as it keeps me up even when I take it in the morning! I still have to take ambien + to sleep. You're lucky and doing fine it sound like. Best of health to us all, PG.
What is you starting dose of the Wellb? It should be 150 mg and some start with 300 mg and then the side effects are hard. On 150mg XL daily, I must take ambien to sleep as this med does keep me awake and some ativan during the day as it makes me nervous, but does work well on the depression. My Dr may move me up to 300 mg XL but it shoud be slow in this bumping up process. See what you're taking ad maybe go to the lower dose with your DR's OK. The brain swirling and ears sounds like what I had at 300 mg and had to reduce to 150 mg. I now can have normal activities but as Wellb is a booster I get tired early in the evening as it keeps me going and going. Best of health to us all, PG
Hey..i took welbutrin... my whole mood changed and not for the better..snapped at everyone..couldnt sleep..yeah call your doc..surely he will change to another med..people i know that have taken wellbutin didnt like it..i really think its a bad drug..best wishes crazed50
jessielynn1, it could be a side effect. I could not take wellbutrin, it made me feel weird, hard to explain the feeling. If you don't get a good answer and it gets worse you might want to call the pharmacy, they can give you some info on it. Good luck, Von-1
