Would like to know what mostpeople think about this drug in terms of sleepiness? I have trouble waking up in the mornings and I do not want to take a med that will make it even harder for me to wake up.
Does amitriptyline (Elavil) make you sleepy and tired?

It does not give me sleep at all. Elavil gives me insomnia. I’ve been up all night since I can remember. And I’m not tired during the day but I have short term memory issues. It sucks.

In the beginning you will struggle to stay awake and I mean struggle. I take it at 8pm and I can barely make it up the stairs by 10pm. I now take 40mg and it dont get tired, but if I lay in in the morning I really struggle to get out of bed. I am 26 healthy, but struggle with severe back pain. This drug has honestly saved my life. The tiredness goes away quickly, but getting up at the weekend is still hard!
