I have been on clonazepam .5 dosage for the past 2 years now. I had been taking the generic brand Teva, which worked amazing for me! However, for my past two prescription refills, I had been getting orange pills instead of my usual yellow ones. The bottle says that the manufacturer of these orange pills is “Accord”? And since taking this brand, I have felt horrible. My short term memory is messed up, and I have this weird feeling that my body is on autopilot. It’s so hard to explain. My anxiety has been at an increased level. Overall, I feel like I just might be going insane! Is it even possible for a change in the manufacturer of the same brand to cause different side effects? As stated previously, Teva brand worked outstandingly well for me. Does anyone else feel this way with the Accord brand of clonazepam? What do I do? I’m open to any and all advice!
Is Accord generic clonazepam awful for anyone else?

All clonazepam generics are very different I can attest to that. What a nightmare! However there is good news for you! Teva is back in it's original formulas as of October 2019. I had my pharmacist get it from their wholesaler. The .05 mg yellow tablet with #832 on one side and TEVA on the other side. The pill is scored. I hope this helps and you can get your Dr to rx the Teva for you asap. Have him request Teva generic only to the pharmacy. All the best!
Eleven years ago I was prescribed clonazepam .5mg once daily for control of horrible tinnitus symptoms that prevented me from sleeping. I always asked my doctor to prescribe Mylan brand because it worked great for me. Recently I was told it is no longer manufactured so my pharmacy substituted Accord brand. Since using it my tinnitus has skyrocketed, I have been unable to sleep well, have horrible dreams, find myself dizzy and my heart racing, and I am completely exhausted every day. I have no doubt this is an inferior product. I tried to leave a review online with the FDA but could not figure out how to do it. My doctor gave me a new prescription for Actavist and I’m finding it a little better but not much. I’m worried I will have to quit my job (I’m semi retired) because I can barely function.
I’m wondering if the Accord product did something to my brain! I can’t believe after living just fine with tinnitus for so many years I am just as miserable now as when I first developed it. I have read that Accord does distribute products that are made in Asia and I wonder as some others do whether this generic brand is mostly fillers. FDA needs to do its job.
I agree with you 100%! Actavis 1mg yellow tabs were unavailable for a three to four month period three years ago; I called every pharmacy in Montana and no one had it and upon attempting to order it, they were given the answer that it was discontinued. In its place, I was given light blue 1mg Clonazepam from Accord. After taking it, I felt no therapeutic affect as my anxiety level seemed to increase. In addition, I felt extreme brain fog, confusion and a decrease in short term memory. I had to use these for three awful weeks, until I found the green Mylan brand which wasn’t much better. After 3-4 months of this “just getting by”, I inadvertently asked my pharmacist to check to see if Actavis might be available again as an article I read indicated it was. My surprised pharmacist found that it was and ordered it immediately. I was able flush the Mylan and the remaining Accord brands down the drain and continue with Actavis.
I would highly recommend Actavis brand as it works the best for me and I’ve tried every brand available. I’ve also reported Accord to the FDA, not that it’s going to have make any difference, but I feel better.
Actavis is not going to be available much longer as they are getting rid of it since teva re released the clonazepam with works even better
Good Morning,
Thank you for contacting Teva Pharmaceuticals Customer Service. The .05mg and the 1mg strength of Clonazepam are now currently available. The NDC (National Drug Code) for the 1mg strength is NDC 00093-3212-05. Since Teva only sells to wholesalers and distributors, I would suggest that you provide the NDC number to your pharmacist and request that they place an order for you with their wholesaler.
Teva is back and 0.5mg feel the same they work great now back to life finally
sjstuck99 Yes! I was switched to Accord and it is terrible for me. It is not a quality drug, in my opinion. It made me confused and my family noticed my confusion. I can’t find another option. I live in a large city and every pharmacy has only Accord? Makes no sense, other than it is cheaper for them. I was on Teva before,as well. I did well on Teva! Sunny Daze
teva just released the 2mg and 0.5mg
ndc for 2 mg is 00093-3212-05
ndc for 0.5mg is 0093-832-05
this is the original not the actavis this is TEVA
I just asked my pharmacist a week ago if he could get the Teva . He supposedly checked and said no. I had to go ahead and get the name brand again. I’m going to check around and see if anyone else has it yet.
My pharmacy orders what is cheapest... and that is the damned Accord, at this time. Thankfully, I still have approval for the name brand (from my insurance company), as I failed with Accord (not even scored?? ) and it crumbles in my fingers, as well as a fail with Actavis. Hopefully, once our fave original Teva starts coming around again, more drug stores will order it. I prefer it over name brand, actually.
How long have you been on it? I took Sandoz before and tried 3 brands two didn't do a darn thing or so I felt, even the Accord was crappy, not as crappy. One thing I will suggest is you might see if your Dr can find some backlog or you do this yourself of your old brand and wing yourself into the newer pill. I hate to say to just switch is going to cause you problems to anything you take period. It took me almost 3 months to wing into the Accord Brand now I don't see any difference from it to the brand I loved which was Sandoz.
Good luck it's not the drug it's going from one to another, each one has a different compound is what I was told by my Pharmacist and Doctor
Oh one more thing I find I don't need as much Accord as I did on my other brand, maybe that might be why you are spacey and forgetful, I was that way at first and now I'm Okay.
Good luck, you are going to have this problem with anything you take
I am having the same problem with this brand of klonopin. Unfortunately, this happened to me after I began taking lexapro. I’m not sure if it’s a result of changes in body chemistry due to lexapro or just poorly manufactured klonopin. I stopped taking lexapro a while back and still experience issues with klonopin. Just picked up a new RX for klonopin by Actavis so we will see. If you take an anti depressant with klonopin I would consider the anti depressant as the reason for klonopin not working. Just my 2 cents. I have physical tension issues all over my upper body and klonopin worked great for this issue.
If you stopped the Klonopin without tapering it then that would account for the body aches and pains. You're in benzo withdrawal syndrome since this drugs cannot be stopped without tapering. I'm sorry. It took me years to figure this out. I was put on multiple psych meds until I found out what was going on.
Yes the same thing has been happening to me the last couple months only. I was getting 1 mg clonazepam from I think Teva and was recently switched to Accord brand and it isn't helping with my anxiety and panic attacks hardly at all unless I double my dose. I put in a Google search for Accord brand clonazepam and I came across this page and was glad to see that I'm not the only one and it wasn't just in my head but also I am not glad to see I am not the only one because every Pharmacy in my town of Prescott Arizona only carries Accord brand I even switched from 60 1 mg tablets to 30 2mg tablets in hopes I would get something different but still got Accord and they still are not working nearly as good as the last band I was taking. I pray that they take this aftermarket I will try to find the number for Teva an accord to make a complaint thank you all for your input it helps more than you know we have to keep fighting or they will not help us and keep giving us bunk medication
I would call Walgreens or another nationwide pharmacy chain and ask them to order a different brand of klonopin for you. Walgreens had no issues doing this.
UPDATE: regarding clonazepam (klonopin) none of the brands are working since teva is now actavis. I had accord, solo, teva and a couple other manufacturers to discover they all treated me with horrible side affects and made anxiety worst. I have tried other anxiety meds not working to where I’m not currently taking anything. I have concluded when this company changed hands so did the ingredients. I had an old pill from teva calmed me down then took the “new” actavis and was highly agitated. If all manufacturers are not working, you may have to try all over in getting a Med that works for your anxiety.
Update I got a hold of Safeway and they are now carrying the Teva brand of clonazepam because Teva just re-released clonazepam back in October of 2019 so if anyone is still struggling call around and if you can't find it your Pharmacy will order it.
I’ve been on 2mg Klonopin for a few years. Switched from Xanax and the brand of Klonopin that worked best for me are E65 and the last refill they gave me Accord. I have had to take the 2 per day where I was taking only one every other day. I’d gotten down to that level of barely any anxiety but now I’ve been dizzy and shaking and hot/sweats mood swings and I don’t like it at all. I just told my pharmacist and he’s ordering a different brand. Thank god! If it’s not the E65 then I’ll just get name brand.
I am going to try this again since apparently my first effort got rejected and I feel this might help.
I have been on Klonopin for about 8 years now. 2mg a day. Always had the TEVA brand up until about 6 months ago. It has been a generic drug nightmare ever since (so glad I found this thread and that I wasn’t the only one). I had every different generic. Found that Soloco was the next best to TEVA but gave me major G. I. Issues and still didn’t come close to the TEVAS. Accord was a literal sugar pill for me, as was Activis. It was like I’ve was in withdrawal most of the time (I think I was). So I upped the dose which just made everything worse. Finally had enough and called the FDA and TEVA. Long story short through them and my doctor we were able to find that TEVA still produces clonazepam but in ODT form only (sublingual). I am on day 2 of it and it’s like being back on the good old generic TEVA. Just thought I would share since so many people are suffering and it has helped me.
I have not tried anything but teva as I have some left that are 2 years old and I hope they are still good but I called teva and they are going to relaunch the original teva clonazepam if you can give customer service a call hit 3 then hit 5 sorry dont have the number
I've been on teva for years. Since they are no longer available I'm on accord it's all my pharmacy has. I feel no different. You only hear reviews when they are bad.

Everyone's body is different has nothing to do with reviews there are post about people liking other generics then others
Yes,I am going through severe symptoms from the manufacturer Actavis. (Yellow) pill) I have also been taken Teva since 2005 with great results. Then I got solco (blue pill) was a little stronger but did me fine as well. But I’m waiting on special order for Teva in the meantime, that Klonopin from Actavis is causing me severe anxiety attacks, now panic attacks I’m highly agitated, shaking, diarrhea, numbness in hands and feet ,fatigue, emotional outburst of crying. Hyperventilating, chronic pain on skin,,, although I have fibromyalgia, this Med has sent my anxiety into over drive that my body is so overwhelmed that my nerves are shot. So yes Teva is the best for me. I can understand if they say same ingredients, one brand HOWEVER, calms my anxiety and another gives me anxiety on top of anxiety. They have accord in stock for me but hearing this brand affects you after taking Teva; I will not go there because I may suffer from that too.
I am happy you wrote this question which confirm brands does make a difference! You should ask for special order from your doctor because that brand will make you feel worse than what you are going through on your own. Hope things get better for you I’m suffering until noon Teva brand will be ready for pick up.
I know this is from last year if but I was doing some research, my daughter is on clonazepam for epilepsy. She had been taking the Accord brand which I never paid attention to for over a year no relief and seizure activity. Went to pick up a new prescription 2 months ago and it was a different brand tevia low and behold her nighttime seizures stopped! I talked to her neurologist about it and told her she needed to talk to her other patients who are having trouble controlling their seizures and see if they are also taking the Accord brand. I never knew how much a different manufacturer could affect somebody until now
Accord is absolutely horrible my anxiety has increased im having head pressure and stomach pain. I feel hungover and dizzy but not calm. I took Teva 1mg for 20 years with no side effects I can't keep taking clonazepam if this is what Im gonna have to take.
I know this comment was from last year. I'm hoping my experience may help someone else.
I am so glad that I found your post! I hope you found some relief from this awful manufacturer of clonazepam. I used to take the yellow pills for the longest time. The manufacturer stopped making the yellow pills. I started taking the Accord manufacturer (the orange pills). I feel horrible! I feel like someone has been smacking me over the head repeatedly. Just like you my short term memory has been awful, which is really scary. I am in a constant fog. I have a constant headache. I'm to the point where I won't drive unless I have to. Generic drugs are VERY different from manufacturer to manufacturer. Find what's best for you and make sure you get the same manufacturer each time.
If the orange ones don't work for you then go to another pharmacy (sometimes that means going to a totally different pharmacy) and ask for a different manufacturer. I am going back to the pink pill. I had to go to a different pharmacy and request it. This manufacturer worked for me before. The pink clonazepam pills are manufactured by Actavis/Teva. They have what looks like an R and the number 33 imprinted on the front of the tablet. I also take lamictal. I get the same manufacturer every time when I get that filled. I tell the pharmacy that is the manufacturer I want (Cadista/Jubilant). I also ask for the expiration date for the lamictal because this brand can be hard to get and it has a short expiration date sometimes. I can't thank you enough for posting this! I thought I was going through changes in my brain, like dimential or something. I'm only in my mid 50's! I hope you're feeling better! By the way, one of the posters said the doctor told them that they were imagining what was happening to them because they READ it online! Don't let a doctor dismiss your feeling and side effects. Advocate for yourself. If your doctor isn't going to listen to you find another doctor who will!
My pharmacy started carrying this brand and I've notice my mouth gets extremely dry.
I dont get as relaxed as I did on another brand. Apparently these clonazepam are made in China and god only knows what is in them. I'm going to see if I can get xanax.
I've been using Clonazepam 0.5mg E 63 for about 2yrs that work fine. My pills were also changed from a round yellow pill to a round orange pill from Accord that I am not at all happy with. They do NOT have the same effect & they actually made me feel worse. I would really like the yellow pills back in stock
