Those of you on gabapentin have you noticed tremors & tics in eyes, face or arms?

I am pretty positive that it's Gabapentin. I've been dealing with the same exact issue for a year now and I'm finally working to get off this medication that DIDN'T even need, my mental health provider, prescribed it for my anxiety.

I would randomly just jerk or switch all over the place, and it was the worst whenever I was trying to go to bed or when I was relaxed.

What you have described is so very possible I have been on gabapentin for a long time, up to 3600mg daily I have been reading so much about this drug recently and decided to wean off it because of the long-term side effects, including causing a decline in cognitive effect as well as other concerning issues and am having a terrible time coming off it regardless of my doctor said it was not addictive tell my body that because it is very difficult and causes horrible withdrawal symptoms I believe there are safer alternatives I found when I googled it if you haven't been on it a long time you may want to rethink whether or not you want to be on this drug doctors are happy to put you on all these medications but never tell you what it is like if you have to quit taking them good luck hope this helps you

Yes, I have twitching in my arms about once every two weeks as I wake up. The twitch is very strong. My dose increased recently and the symptom became more advanced. Hope that helps.

The original question was from a person taking gabapentin for neuropathy, which was believed to be caused by fibromyalgia. I have had fibromyalgia since 1984. I've seen many doctors in various specialities, tried many medications, and read whatever I could find about it. Never have I heard of fibromyalgia causing neuropathy. It is a malfunction of the way the nervous system handles pain signals, and is neither inflammatory nor degenerative. There may be another cause of the neuropathy, which could be deficiencies of the B-Complex vitamins used for healing nerves and producing neurotransmitters. Increasing medications increases the body's need for vitamins.

What kind of withdrawal symptoms are you having?

I've been taking a low dose at night and I'm trying to get off of it because of side effects I can't stand it any longer. I have been having facial tic, blurred vision, weight gain, hair loss and always feeling out of it. I am down to 300mg and hopefully I can cut down to 150mg. The withdrawals are horrible. Wish I never started taking this. I hope your symptoms soon go away.

The higher the dose I've noticed makes me get tremors throughout my body. I am on 2500mg a day three 800s and a 100. I'm fine on my dose no matter how close I take my pills together but more makes me get tremors. Maybe you will get used to it maybe not if your really bothered by it talk to your doctor.

I am on 300 gabapentin 4 times a day. I was originally taking only twice a day. I would several times a week have mouth tremors and hand tremors. My doc increased my dose to 4 times a day because I had two epilepsy seizures and was diagnosed with epilepsy. No more tics and seizures while taking this. Good so far. Bad news is that I am not sharp in my brain. Nap easily in the afternoon. I recently retired so I guess I don't need to be so sharp.

Yes I have noticed tics in my jaw and weakness in my knees with a unsteady gait favoring one side on 600mg a day.I will cut back slowly until I see if this resolves side effects.I also have fibro, sciatica, neuropathy.

Yes I have noticed twitching in my hands and legs for about 24 hours after taking them. If I quit taking them this parkinson's like side effect completely goes away. If I am smoking cigarette, I will often get a twitch and drop it.

Yes I have noticed shaking and trembling when my dosage was increased. Especially in my hands. I’m so glad to hear this because I was afraid of Parkinson’s disease.

Most definitely GABA would increase these responses. At that high of a dosage it's most likely the reason, but remember with gabapentin, less is usually more, the benefits of Neurontin go up to a certain benefit level, then it becomes negligible.
