I do not know the brand names but I've had Percocet tablets that are round and yellow with a wavy ~V on it, little round white RP10s, long M325s, T194s and IP204s. The first 3 that I mentioned are stronger than the last 2 and I do not understand why. Is it the different fillers?? I thought all of them only had the 10 mg oxy and hydrochloride and acetaminophen? So why do they work differently? Should I find out the brand/generic names for them all? Or the pharmaceutical company that makes them? They used to have these A333 ones that aren't made anymore and they were great.
Why are some 10mg Percocet tablets stronger than others? Shouldn't all 10mg of oxy be the same?

I am not a pharmacist but there 2 versions of opioid medication. Extended Release and Immediate Release. Both are equal in milligrams but one takes longer to enter your system. The faster acting version may seem stronger but it isn’t.

To answer the question: Percocet was the original generic Oxycodone/APAP medicine. It is the brand name of this generic Oxycodone/APAP. Then in the mid-1980's the government allowed for generics of the brand names to be made by other pharmaceutical companies. So many other generics came on the market but they use cheaper inert fillers which in effect dilutes (to some degree) the strength of the "generic "Percocet". I do not know if Percocet will stay on the market (since that big lawsuit) but generics are here to stay. Some generics are better and some are just bad. There are two types of generics; the "Immediate Release" version and the "Extended Release" version. The popular extended release is Oxycontin. Now it is up to us, the consumer, to figure out which generic version of Oxycodone/APAP works best for each of us respectively. So do your homework and ask your pharmacist in order to decide which works best for you.
