Zoloft (sertraline) for Panic Disorder "I promised myself after reading so many reviews that I’d come back and leave one myself, but I’ve been doing so good I almost forgot. I was so nervous about starting this drug. Last January my anxiety had gotten absolutely debilitating; I was having panic attacks nearly every day. I truly couldn’t imagine ever feeling good again. And I was so scared to start taking this. I started and stopped maybe 3 times before sticking with it. I’m so glad I did. If you’re reading this, and you’re nervous about starting, and you’ve been scouring reviews online to try and convince yourself, consider this your sign! Life is tough but it doesn’t have to be. Good luck out there friends ❤️"

Zoloft (sertraline) for Social Anxiety Disorder "Some of the reasons people complain about Zoloft/sertraline and say it doesn't work? Three reasons: - They didn't increase dosage when it wasn't working. - They took it for too short a time. - They got prescribed a drug that doesn't fit them or their illness. I suffered from social anxiety disorder since childhood, and for me, Zoloft started working after more than 1 month, and after a triple increase in dosage compared to the beginning. When did I know it had started working? It was like a switch, from day to day. I just had this feeling that now I don't have this 'everyone is watching and judging me.' I still have it sometimes, and that's why I'm in psychotherapy (which is also very helpful), but Zoloft changed my life, maybe not totally, but it definitely helps. But PLEASE GIVE IT SOME TIME. If something doesn't work for 2 weeks, DON'T GIVE UP and increase the dosage. If the drug doesn't work then, increase the dose again. If it doesn't work after 2 months, just ask your doctor for another drug. Keep trying and DON'T GIVE UP."

Zoloft (sertraline) for Depression "I literally felt something happy the first day. I'm not kidding. I took my first pill at 6:15 a.m....at/around 10:00 a.m., I felt like I couldn't complete a sentence without thinking really hard about it... Then noon came, I got off early from work...I came home and felt fantastic. I felt good. I'm very in tune with my body. I can tell if I'm getting a cold sore days before I get one, and I can tell this/that just by taste in my mouth, or how I smell something. I take other meds, but this one, Zoloft, I actually felt something positive the first day. I believe this is going to be good for me. I used to take Paxil CR, but if I didn't take it absolutely on time, or whatever,...I was off for a week (or in jail).. no, I'm not kidding, my depression has taken me places you don't wanna know... My experience today is that I actually feel happier than I have in months... I guess I'm lucky that way! :)"

Zoloft (sertraline) for Social Anxiety Disorder "On Zoloft for Generalized Anxiety Disorder. The first few weeks were honestly so bad. I had such bad brain fog, more anxiety, depression, wanted to sleep all the time, etc. I couldn’t eat and lost about 7 pounds within a few weeks. Things were not looking good but I pushed through it. One morning I woke up and my life had been changed. I found out what it was like to feel like everything would be okay. I am so happy I take this medicine and I recommend it for anxiety if you’re willing to push through the beginning. I have a new view on life and it feels so good."

Zoloft (sertraline) for Depression "I have been taking Zoloft for several months. I have IBS, which flares up when I'm anxious, and Zoloft really helps with that. It has very few side effects, and I feel more like myself when I'm taking Zoloft. I do have one small complaint: when I miss a few consecutive doses, I tend to get dizzy. But that's it! Other than that, I have no issues with Zoloft. It's very subtle, and it certainly has improved my mood."

For Anxiety and Stress "2017, I just started a new job after a year of unemployment. I began to feel anxious at work, and a few months into my new job, I had a severe breakdown. I went to my GP who explained everything to me in detail. She prescribed me anti-sickness tablets for my sick feeling, which did WONDERS immediately, but she also said that I need to give Sertraline a chance to work. Fast forward to 2019, and I wanted to write this review to anyone who was in my shoes in 2017, searching the net for the magic cure, anxious about the future, and feeling trapped and like they will never get better! THERE IS HOPE!!!!!!!! Give the medicine a chance to work, Sertraline saved my life!!!!!!! I am still taking it at 125mg and now looking to lower the dose because I feel so much better, I feel comfortable. I am able to get on the tube like I used to (without anxiety), I can sit in meetings, and I can even present to a crowd now! I got a promotion at the start of this year and loving life."

Zoloft (sertraline) for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder "About 8 months ago, I began a battle with post-traumatic stress and major depressive disorder. Traumas from years past that I had never faced resurfaced and turned my life upside down. I wasn't sleeping or eating. At one point, I went nearly forty hours without sleep and was considering taking my own life. I suffered terrible panic attacks and had nonstop intrusive thoughts. This went on for months until I started on Zoloft about 13 weeks ago at 50 mg. I noticed a minor improvement over the next 5 weeks. At 100 mg, I noticed much more progress over the next five weeks. Presently, I am at 150 mg and have noticed a major difference. What I found is that Zoloft slows the intrusive thoughts and allows me to access the things I work on in therapy and actually apply them, whereas before, the emotions were too much. This medication takes time to work. I read these reviews during my hardest times, and it really helped me stay positive. Stay strong. Keep working. It gets better. I promise."

For Generalized Anxiety Disorder "I am a pharmacy technician and been one for over a year now. I had developed GAD due to my job, and it was then taking over my life and mental health. I started losing weight fast. Second time having an anxiety panic attack at work and got sent home early due to my body going to fight or flight mode. My doctor then quickly prescribed sertraline 25mg. Finally, I read all the reviews, and it gave me so much hope that I wasn’t alone. For the first few days, I had the runs every morning bad, increased anxiety all the time, insomnia in the morning, hot flashes during the night, some jaw clenching for the first two days. By week two, all the side effects lifted. By week three, I didn’t notice too much, but my mood was so much better. I finally started eating happily, playing with my family more, sleeping well, and even working out! I finally feel normal again BUT better. Please know that you are not alone, and keep pushing. I am only taking 25mg, and it really does make a difference!"

Zoloft (sertraline) for Depression "I am a 34-year-old woman who has been living with depression since I was 12. Depression had me feel like I was Atlas (from Greek mythology) with a lifetime of struggle to roll a boulder uphill. Initially, I was against the idea of being on an antidepressant. I finally caved in when a break-up threw me into a tailspin of never-ending crying and sadness. At the doctor's office, he forewarned me that the first 6 weeks are going to be tough and to brave the storm until the medication builds up in my system. I had 3 weeks of side effects that had me feeling more depressed and fatigued. However, I got through it, and my life has changed for the better. Presently, I am more outgoing and actually feel like a 'normal' person again. I am finally truly and sincerely happy and have gained more friends because of that. If you are thinking about trying this medication but are still unsure, take the risk. I can't describe how great it is to finally have your life back."

For Anxiety and Stress "I started taking this pill over 3 months ago, because something bad has happened in my life. I had very intense panic attacks and shaking, couldn't sleep, constant anxiety. If you are someone who just started to take these pills, brace yourself: the first 5 weeks are gonna be HORRIBLE. But hold on, it starts to get better afterwards if you keep taking them. I started with 50mg, which was soon raised to 100mg. I got almost every single side effect that was listed in the pill's warning: Shaking, worsening panic and depression, fear of death etc. These thankfully gradually faded after the first 2 weeks. The longest lasting side effect was that I kid you not, I couldn't sleep more than 45 minutes a night for almost a whole month! INSOMNIA! Now I have been on these for almost 4 months. The panic attacks are absent, and even on the worst nights, I can easily sleep 4-5 hours. On weekends, I can even sleep in :) A very tough medication, but in the end, it works like magic!"

Zoloft (sertraline) for Depression "I've been taking Zoloft for 8 years. It has created stability in my life. Prior to taking medication, I always felt off...anxious, depressed, emotional, dwelling on things, and this interfered with the quality of my life as well as affected my relationships and professional life. I take 50mg and I feel even-keeled and normal instead of a basket case of emotion. Nobody would ever know I'm taking a medication, and I'm often complimented on my temperament. I feel neutral, in control of my feelings, and everything is within normal range. If you are overly emotional, anxious, feel off-balance, and have difficulty feeling consistent in your life...this could help. I feel content and normal now."

Zoloft (sertraline) for Social Anxiety Disorder "I feel so obligated to leave a review. I was sitting where you are now almost 4 weeks ago. I was terrified after reading the reviews, however, I knew I needed help. I had postpartum depression and let it go unchecked for a long time. When that seemed to subside, I was hit with debilitating anxiety that really started to rob me of my life. I had severe insomnia as a result. I started on 25 mg for a week, then went up to 50 mg where I am currently at now. It was a very difficult med to get on. I had increased anxiety, panic, still fought insomnia. After about two and a half weeks and help from my family, I felt like the world felt brighter. Every day since has been getting better. I can’t tell you enough that if you can weather the first 2-3 weeks, you will not regret it. I am getting back to my old self and it feels so good. I am so thankful, and feeling so blessed. You got this!"

Zoloft (sertraline) for Depression "This medication has changed my life. I used to feel depressed all the time, no motivation to reach any goals, leaving house was impossible, honestly no desire to live life. After 9 months on it I can say I am happy again. I’m laughing at silly things again, I wake up early and want to go outside and LIVE. I’m exercising all the time, meeting friends. Loving life again. I heard someone saying the other day “the worst thing you can do is depend on medication”. Mate I’ll tell you just once, the worst thing IN THE WORLD is to live depressed. Please give yourself permission to use this as a tool for the time that you need. Living life depressed is the worst possible thing and it steals amazing opportunities you could have in life. Depression changes your personality for the worst. I hope that if you’re still wondering if it’s worth it or not to give this a shot, you go for it. Even if it doesn’t work for you and you keep looking for a better fit. Things do get better❤️"

Zoloft (sertraline) for Depression "Teenage son was on Lexapro, then Zoloft. Gradual transition of 10mg Lexapro + 50 mg Zoloft for 2 weeks, then 3rd 50mg of Zoloft. Next 3 weeks were totally insane with side effects. Week 3, Zoloft increased to 100 mg with 50 mg of Seroquel for sleeping. We wondered if Zoloft was making everything worse, but we hung in there. So glad we did! By week 4, it seemed like everything reached an equilibrium point. It was like - my gosh, what is happening... the depression, anxiety, compulsive behavior went from a 10 to a 3. He was able to control & process thoughts, listen to advice, pause more to think things through before his responses, in general very talkative about everything. Something totally wonderful happened in the 4th week and continues to this day. He is now receptive to knowing the Zoloft medication has pulled him through a very dark place and is now voluntarily open to continuing therapy. For us, the Zoloft medication is working. Yes, it did take time & a lot of patience to see the results."

For Anxiety and Stress "This medication has honestly saved my life! I have never suffered from anxiety until it just came on overnight. I honestly felt like I was having a mental breakdown, I was having panic attacks and awful intrusive thoughts and it was sending me in a downward spiral fast. I went to my GP and they prescribed me Sertraline, I’ve never taken medication for anything so I was skeptical to start it but after reading reviews and feeling like I genuinely had no choice I decided to try it. The first 3 weeks were the worst time of my life, suicidal thoughts constantly and my anxiety was through the roof to the point I couldn’t leave my house and I would just lay in bed any chance I got. But after about 3 and half weeks I’ve started to feel myself again. My anxiety has pretty much gone, I’m not having any intrusive thoughts and I’m starting to enjoy life again. I honestly don’t think I would be here today if I hadn’t started this medication, I’m so glad I gave it a chance."

Zoloft (sertraline) for Postpartum Depression "I’ve been dealing with anxiety and intrusive thoughts pretty much my whole life. After my first baby, my anxiety got really bad. The sleepless nights didn’t help and the general stress of it all. I had never taken an antidepressant because I was a very happy person aside from my anxiety. Once I started Zoloft, it took about a month for me to feel the effects. I’m currently on 50 mg of Zoloft and my anxiety is so much better. I wake up so much happier now, and I can focus on being a good mom and being present. I really recommend this to anyone who is dealing with anxiety and obsessive thinking. Just to note, don’t stop taking the medication if your anxiety increases. The first few weeks were really hard. It’s just your mind adjusting to the drug and playing tricks on you. Stick with it. I promise it really helps."

Zoloft (sertraline) for Major Depressive Disorder "Zoloft saved my life. During my pregnancy, I started experiencing severe anxiety and depression. I was throwing up every single day, missing work, withdrawing from life. I had panic attacks from the time I woke up until the time I went to bed. I dreaded and feared waking up every day and having to be alive again. I felt hopeless, miserable, worthless. It got to the point where I genuinely had urges to hurt myself and thought it would be better if I just died. Cue Zoloft. I started on 50 mg, and within about two weeks noticed small improvements in my energy, but still felt extremely low and incapable. I spent hours on this forum looking for the motivation to keep pushing. Things gradually improved over the weeks, and after about 6 weeks on Zoloft, I woke up one morning and just realized...I felt like me again. I wasn't hopeless. I wasn't depressed. I was able to laugh again. I actually saw my future again. If you're in the same place I was, KEEP GOING! Things will get better!"

For Depression "Comments abound on this page regarding Sertraline's negative side effects. I don't understand why people bother to leave negative feedback as all side effects mentioned are in the information leaflet that come with the medication. Furthermore, most negative reviews are from folk who have not stayed on this medication long enough to experience anything positive. You need to give it at least 8 weeks to see the benefits, if you don't you may be missing a glorious opportunity to get better. Your doctor should tell you these things beforehand."

Zoloft (sertraline) for Depression "I went to the doctor for anxiety and was prescribed Lexapro, which has worked in the past for me, but for some reason it didn’t work this time. The doctor had me stop Lexapro immediately and start 25 mg of Zoloft. I started on 25 mg and increased over the next 4 weeks to 150 mg. Let me just say the next few weeks were horrible, and reading these reviews encouraged me and made me want to push through. I skipped over all the bad reviews to stay focused. I took Xanax at night just to help sleep but just powered through the day with nothing. I had lost 27 pounds in 5 weeks. I was beginning to think it wasn’t going to work. On the 5th week, I got up and couldn’t walk. Let me just say I felt a big difference going into the 6th week. The medicine finally kicked in. God heals by miracles and by medicine."

Zoloft (sertraline) for Panic Disorder "I read these reviews, body tingling, shaking, concentrating on every breath or I would choke to death, using all of my will to focus on these reviews with tears in my eyes imagining that some of these success stories could happen to me and promised to write one if I could make it out alive. I'm 22 and started having severe panic 2 years ago. Don't worry about the side effects. If your experience was like mine every day, side effects would be a break from the dread and torture I felt every second. Zoloft brought me right back to the person I remember being before the panic. Just try it and give it time. It gradually got better over 3 weeks along with klonopin for attacks in that time. I hope this gives someone the hope and courage to try it."

For Anxiety and Stress "I have been on sertraline since 9 days ago. I had all of a sudden generalized anxiety which progressed to panic attacks without any obvious reason. My doctor has prescribed me sertraline 50 mg once daily and told me that may make me sleepy. In those 9 days, I had the worst nausea and loss of appetite with internal shakes. The first day had nightmares. Elevated anxiety and panic attacks especially in the morning. Almost every day I refer to this site to reassure myself that everything will be okay. I will keep you posted. Please wish me luck."

For Anxiety and Stress "27-year-old from the UK, Carlisle, on 50mg Sertraline. This medication is excellent. I have tried: Prozac (impulsive & diarrhea), Mirtazapine (5-stone weight gain), Citalopram (severe depression resulting in a constant stream of suicidal thoughts, NEVER AGAIN!), Venlafaxine (severe anxiety and nervousness), Amitriptyline (sedation). I have been on this for 2 weeks. When it started working, I felt happy and calm. I didn't wake feeling angry and fed up with life. My memory has improved, and my sleep has improved. I can go outside, which I was unable to do before. I don't comfort eat, I don't ruminate over negative things, I'm interested in my hobbies again, and I am more outspoken and unafraid of confrontation. It is out of this world! Keep trying and don't give up. You will wake up one day out of this waking coma and see the color of reality again; just keep trying different medications. No matter what, keep going! I have been depressed and anxious for years; this has truly saved me from oblivion."

Zoloft (sertraline) for Depression "First of all, I wanted to write this several years ago but somehow never got around to it. Zoloft has changed my life. I’ve struggled with depression and anxiety my whole life. In 2011 I finally started Zoloft. The first night I started my 25mg dose. The next morning I woke up and felt completely different. It was like a euphoric feeling. My body didn’t ache. I had more energy... fast forward 7 years. I still am using Zoloft and it has made me a better wife, more patient parent and overall less anxious and depressed."

For Anxiety and Stress "I very nearly gave up in the first week due to bad side effects. Bad headaches, anxiety, and strange dreams made me question whether sertraline was right for me. I spoke to my GP, and I decided to push through, carry on, and give it a chance to work. Admittedly, I did start to see some ‘green shoots’ of mood improvement, in parallel with the bad side effects, in the early stages. It’s week 4 now, and I feel like a teenager again. My energy and motivation are much improved, to the point that I have to watch I don’t overdo things. I feel like the Duracell Bunny at times. Given the other reviews, I’m expecting things could improve further still… My concern is the increased appetite and bad bags under my eyes. That said, it’s made me realize just how bad I have felt for the past decade of my life. Push through the initial bad stage, and you will reach a better place. Good luck!"
