Tirosint (levothyroxine) for Hashimoto's disease "After 12 years of struggling with Synthroid and also trying NP Thyroid, which was worse, I finally found an endocrinologist that agreed that the binders in other thyroid medications were causing my Hashimoto's autoimmune reaction. Therefore, keeping my TSH not in control. I have been on Tirosint for a little over a year and have noticed a great improvement to the point of not having hypothyroid symptoms. I would suggest the makers of Tirosint should make it clear of the importance of allowing 4 hours from taking the medication and eating or taking other supplements so it does not interfere. I am forever grateful to the manufacturers of Tirosint for making this very clean thyroid medication because binders really do play a factor in Hashimoto's. I just hope I do not develop a sensitivity to glycerin."

For Underactive Thyroid "When Dr. increases the dosage for levothyroxine, I get overly anxious, palpitations, lack of concentration, can't sleep, an overall feeling of not feeling well, faintly feeling, no energy, bloated, itchy, eye problems, irritated, confusion, feeling like crying, very emotional, and this is only taking 50mg. I felt I was dying. The moment I took half of 25mg like I was doing before, I returned to my normal self. Doctors don't care about your symptoms, they just want to go by the book, and I'm not the only one reporting this. Others like me are out there. Doctors are not listening to us."

Tirosint (levothyroxine) for Hypothyroidism, After Thyroid Removal "Been on Tirosint for 7 years after switching from other forms of levothyroxine. Been doing great on it, with small dose changes when needed. 4 months ago, was feeling unwell, endo tested me & my TSH was highest it's been since before I started Tirosint. We increased my dose, I'm now worse with full hypo symptoms that are affecting all areas of my life & functioning (intense pain, fatigue, brain fog, menstrual issues, etc.). Just had my thyroid panel & my TSH has climbed HIGHER on a Tirosint dose increase - opposite of what should be happening. Hasn't been this high since my thyroid was removed. I contacted the Tirosint manufacturer to see if the formulation has changed - NO RESPONSE. Will contact all the necessary channels to find out what's going on. It seems obvious that it must be the meds, since my issues coincide with their packaging & capsule sizes changing. I'm livid that they haven't responded. People's lives are at stake. Those without thyroids NEED effective hormone replacement to LIVE."

Synthroid (levothyroxine) for Underactive Thyroid "I have been on Synthroid for approximately 10 years. Here are several points that I have learned: 1. You may initially start feeling better in a couple of weeks, but it takes months to see the full effects. 2. Depending on your TSH levels, your doctor should start you at a low dosage and gradually increase as needed. Starting with too high of a dosage is a shock to your body and will even make you feel more tired as your body is working overtime. 3. See a physician who is very familiar with thyroid issues. If you are not seeing positive results with your family doctor, see an endocrinologist! Many of the negative comments I have read may be a result of your doctor not understanding this disorder. 4. There are alternatives if this medicine is not working."

Synthroid (levothyroxine) for Underactive Thyroid "To be honest, I'm not a person who has ever taken medications. So when my physician told me I had an underactive thyroid, I didn't really know what to think because I didn't feel as though I had any of the common symptoms. I just thought the symptoms the doctor mentioned were just normal aging since I am 55 years old. I have been taking this medication now for a little over 4 months and have started to see some noticeable changes. 1) My hair stopped falling out. 2) Nails started growing faster and stronger. 3) All around much more energy. 4) Able to focus better. So far, I have been very happy with the results. I cannot give this a total 10 because everything has room for improvement."

Synthroid (levothyroxine) for Underactive Thyroid "I can almost guarantee that most of these negative reviews are due to either 1. Taking the medication incorrectly (generic works for some not all), too close to food or iron, calcium, some antidepressants interfere. 2. Taking the incorrect dose. 3. Not being consistent (must be close to the same time daily). I had gone through many changes before finally getting it right. Seems to be working well after getting on brand name and taking it seriously."

Euthyrox (levothyroxine) for Hashimoto's disease "This drug is causing all kinds of awful issues. My hair is falling out, I'm completely exhausted, want to sleep all day/night, can't think straight, can't make it through my work day, loose stools, headaches, cold. Increased heart palpitations. I feel exactly as I did when I wasn't taking anything."

Euthyrox (levothyroxine) for Underactive Thyroid "Horrible drug. Almost landed in ER. Been taking Levothyroxine, generic for Synthroid, for years a little yellow oval pill w/no issues. Called for a refill at Walmart. Arrived home to find boxes of blister packs. Definitely not my normal pills which came in a pill bottle. Called Walmart asked about this drug Euthyrox by Merck in Germany. Person who answered phone said exactly the same no worries. HE WAS WRONG. Didn't put 2 & 2 together for over 3 weeks as I became sicker my side effect symptoms were brain fog, strange head-ache, all day, every day, dizzy, heavy pulse in my neck, sudden heat waves, unsteady on my feet, vision weird, exhausted. Figured out was due to changing to this manufacturer. Many reviews from people who experienced same side effects, after Walmart changed to this manufacturer. Walmart should have said something. Dr. Gave me RX for old Levo. Immediately stopped taking Euthyrox. Today 4th day back on old pills. 90% better. Called Walmart Corp. & FDA. NOT LIKE OTHER GENERIC LEVOTHYROXINE."

Levoxyl (levothyroxine) for Underactive Thyroid "I was a long-time Levoxyl user prior to the major recall that happened, and I loved Levoxyl and felt fantastic before the recall that happened! I have tried it 4 separate times, and each time I try it, I feel horrible. Imagine the most tired feeling you could ever feel! I cannot function and require naps when I try taking it. Not sure what changes they made to the formula, but for me, it is horrible. I just had to share this, just in case anyone out there is feeling this same feeling. Trust me, the formula has changed and not for the better..."

Synthroid (levothyroxine) for Underactive Thyroid "I just started this medicine about a month ago. It is making such a big difference in my appetite and my energy. I am a fairly young man at 23 years old. I knew something wasn't right with my body over the last few years, as I had gained about 30 pounds over the course of just a few months and felt so sluggish. It turns out, like many of you reading this, I have an underactive thyroid. I have heard that three drugs help with the thyroid hormones. Synthroid (T4 hormone), Cytomel (T3 hormone), and Armour Thyroid (T4 & T3 Hormones). Synthroid has gotten a bad rap because it's synthetic and it only covers the T4. Well, the T4 is most likely all you need because a T3 deficiency is rare. Synthroid is great. Stomach upset went away in 1-2 weeks."

For Underactive Thyroid "I can't believe how much better I felt immediately after starting this (25 mcg). I resisted taking it for a year. I was afraid of side effects and wasn't convinced that my thyroid was the problem. My TSH was only slightly high (average 6; high 11). I was so used to feeling lousy that whenever the doc asked about my energy, I said it was fine. I thought I was just aging fast (I'm 38). I'm not overweight, I've been athletic most of my life but have dragged during exercise for the past 2 years. I've also suffered from persistent depression and anxiety. I took antidepressants for a while but never felt great. I feel so good now. My physical stamina and motivation are back, I wake with energy. Very happy."

Synthroid (levothyroxine) for Underactive Thyroid "I started taking Synthroid about 6 months ago, and I feel really good. I went from feeling like a zombie to feeling like my normal self again. Before starting on Synthroid, I had most of the typical hypothyroid symptoms: tiredness, dry skin, cold intolerance, puffy face, etc. Now the only symptom that still bothers me is water retention. My doctor just increased my dose, so hopefully, that goes away soon."

Tirosint (levothyroxine) for Hashimoto's disease "I have Hashimoto's. Tirosint has changed my life for the good! I have taken it for four months and I have felt like a human being again. I was like a zombie for 10 years on stupid Armour. Fortunately, I received a bad batch of Armour that sent me to the ER twice last October, which prompted my medication change to Tirosint. I want to let everyone know with Hashimoto's that Tirosint is truly a Godsend medication. I hope it works for you like it has for me. I had no idea how sick I was on stupid Armour. That's what I call it because Armour made me stupid. I couldn't think straight while taking it. Now with Tirosint, I'm a force to be reckoned with! I have a new job and have tons of energy! I have been reorganizing and cleaning my house."

For Underactive Thyroid "Before taking this medication, I thought I'd look up reviews to check for any side or long-term effects caused by this medicine. I was terrified after reading so many bad reviews, but decided to take the medication regardless because I figured the medication would do me more good than harm. It's been about a year since I've been on levothyroxine 50mg and I must admit - I had never felt better! I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism at 19 and started this medication quickly after. My levels are normal and I can definitely notice the significant change in my health and everyday life. I am back to being happy and enjoy going out, not like before. No more headaches or fatigue. Thank God for this awesome medication. I recommend it 100% of the way!"

For Underactive Thyroid "This medication is used to treat low thyroid hormone levels. I have Hashimoto's. This is an autoimmune disorder where the body attacks the thyroid until it no longer functions properly. Many people with low thyroid hormone levels have this but are not aware because doctors tend to treat with the medication rather than the whole disease. A lot of the people posting claiming side effects are actually describing side effects of LOW THYROID or HIGH THYROID! The medication is simply a replacement hormone and will not make you constipated, have brain fog, anxiety, fibromyalgia, heart palpitations, etc. unless you are taking TOO MUCH or TOO LITTLE of the hormone. A lot of the negative reviews of this medication are absolutely ridiculous!"

Tirosint (levothyroxine) for Underactive Thyroid "Was on Nature Throid for 13 years with no problems until they stopped manufacturing. I tried Armour, anxiety! Switched to Levothryroxine have been in the dumps and upper back and neck pain ever since. Recently switched to Tirosint, my hair immediately started falling out and was having severe hot flashes. Stopped taking and both stopped so now I just take Levo every other day. Not sure why these manufacturers cannot figure it out when there are so many people suffering. Please someone manufacture NatureThroid again. I am at a loss."

Euthyrox (levothyroxine) for Hypothyroidism, After Thyroid Removal "Walmart switched me to this brand back in April. They assured me it was the exact same thing as the levothyroxine brand I was taking. I had just had labs done in March. Things were good. By early May my TSH had jumped to a 14 from a .40. I had fatigue to the point that I was bed bound. Headaches, sleeplessness, rapid heart rate, sweats, memory issues. This medicine is a dangerous medication. My dr had several other thyroid patients complain of the same medication after Walmart switched them. It is absolutely not the same as what I was taking. This medication will crash your labs and make you feel like the walking dead. It’s shouldn’t be on the market."

Tirosint (levothyroxine) for Hashimoto's disease "I have been on Tirosint for 5 year and have done fairly well on it. This past April 2020 I noticed the distributor of the drug changed but thought nothing of it. I then developed a pain in my left shoulder and also began to have an incredibly itchy rash located on my front shins. My Endo suggested it looked like an allergic reaction. We increased my dose to a higher one over five days and when I started the higher dose the rash got better but then returned. I have now switched to Synthroid and the rash has gone completely. I suspect the casing of the drug has changed with the new distributor, which doesn't make much sense. I think something has happened to the drug that they aren't telling us."

Synthroid (levothyroxine) for Hashimoto's disease "Had my thyroid removed 2 years ago. Was put on Synthroid and have felt terrible ever since. Weight gain, joint and muscle pain, blurred vision, tremors, hair loss, constipation, irregular heartbeat, stomach problems, and the list goes on. Doctor tells me my numbers are fine, and I should be put on an antidepressant. Really. That's because they don't know enough about thyroid disease and keep pushing the drugs. This drug is next to poison, but no one listens to us. We are held hostage to these doctors that don't care. Where do we turn to because we are suffering. Help!"

Synthroid (levothyroxine) for Hypothyroidism, After Thyroid Removal "I had my thyroid removed in 1990 and have been on Synthroid ever since. The dosage has changed over the years. Right now I'm on a dose that requires two pills each morning - the 200mcg plus the 50 mcg. I have to wonder if a lot of the symptoms many of us experience aren't due to the Synthroid, but rather the lack of a thyroid and having to get the hormone from a pill? Maybe it just doesn't ever feel quite the same no matter what brand it is. I am usually tired. I can't get enough sleep. Often am achy too. I have always been prone to anxiety and depression and have been on Effexor for years. That helps with a lot of symptoms I had (night sweats, mood issues, etc.) but still so tired."

Tirosint (levothyroxine) for Hypothyroidism, After Thyroid Removal "I went on Tirosint when Levoxyl stopped working after they changed the formulary. It worked great until March or so of this year. Now my hair is falling out, I’ve gained 8 lbs., my temp is 96, I’m exhausted, etc. because of the pandemic, I didn’t figure it out right away. Obviously hypothyroidism and I’m so bummed. Awaiting test results and a consult with my doctor. What did they do to Tirosint? Synthroid or Levoxyl don’t work for me. What do I do next? What a nightmare."

Synthroid (levothyroxine) for Hypothyroidism, After Thyroid Removal "I've had my thyroid removed 10 months ago, and I started taking the lowest dose of Levothyroxine (generic) six weeks after the surgery. I had my blood work done and dosage adjusted every six weeks until I ended up at 137 mcg daily, 5 months after the surgery. Then I switched to Synthroid brand. All this adjusting was done by an endocrinologist. I feel great, definitely much better than before the surgery when I suffered from severe hyperthyroidism. I did gain some weight right after the surgery, but once the dosage was correct, I was able to lose the pounds easily. All of my other symptoms (hair loss, abnormal sweating, fatigue) were gone once the dosage was correct. The right dosage is extremely important."

Tirosint (levothyroxine) for Hashimoto's disease "I was prescribed Tirosint-SOL in May, 2020 for Hashimoto's disease. The first month was fine with slight heart racing at night. Then on July 1, had chest pains during the night. I stopped taking Tirosint and called my doctor. At first I thought it was COVID19, and I got tested - it was negative. I stopped taking all Thyroid medicine. Had chest pains throughout July. Well, long story short, I had emergency triple bypass operation on July 27. I am 65 years old and without any other health issues. I do NOT recommend this medication. The side effects can be awful. I do not want anyone to go through this experience."
