Cleocin Vaginal (clindamycin) "I have always taking metronidazole gel for BV over my life time but suffered many intolerable side effects. My doctor agrees that I may have some sort of intolerance for metronidazole because it makes me very sick and suicidal. The depression and anxiety always set in day two of the treatment and subside when treatment ends. This most recent case of BV I had had enough and asked for Cleocin ovules (the three day treatment). I am on day two and my infection seems to be gone and I also have noticed not many side effects. It does not effect me mentally and the only side effects are burning upon application and some headaches and a bit of tiredness. I have not experienced diarrhea or stomach pain as some people have noted and it doesn’t cause anxiety or worsening of mental health. Will continue to ask for this instead of metronidazole. Please give it a try if you are fed up with metronidazole. This is a great alternative. Of note my insurance did not cover it."

"Yes it’s messy. Yes it’s annoying. But it works. I have been prescribed the Metronidazole pills which are more convenient but make me sick to my stomach at times and dries my vagina out. I also have tried Metro Gel which gave me a yeast infection so bad I could have baked a loaf of bread!! The clindamycin cream leaves my vag moist and clear of infection or odor that doesn’t return. You have to use it properly and it will work."

"I've had two rounds of treatment of Clindamycin applications to treat my recurring BV. My first round felt like it didn't completely cure all the symptoms during my 10-day course but most symptoms subsided. 3-4 weeks later my BV came back with a vengeance. My second round of treatment was for 7-days with an additional prescription of diflucan to treat yeast. Normally I'll start feeling better within 2 days of the course of treatment but I never felt any of my symptoms got away accept the itching which I think the diflucan resolved. I experienced mild burning, cramping, fatigue, & diarrhea the entire time taking Clindamycin. Spoke with my GYN by day 3 & she said to continue treatment & I should get better. Then I spoke with her on my last day & told her my symptoms felt worst even have an odor I didn't have initially as well as burning & discharge. Now she's prescribed me a steroid ointment to mask the symptoms but not treat the BV."

"I am now on day 6 of clindamycin for BV and I haven't noticed a difference, I still have a smell but not like fish, but a smell you can still smell. At this point I have tried metro gel and pills but nothing I will be going back to my doctor soon. I haven't experienced any itching or burning just a smell that won't go away ."

"Been with the same partner for 5 years...then one day his semen smelled of fish and very metallic and actually caused a rash on my chest and legs...I was convinced he had Trichomoniasis. After ruling out any STD, I was prescribed Clindamycin Phosphate Vaginal Cream 2% (I am allergic to Metronidazole) for seven days to be inserted at the same time every night (which I found difficult to do because of my work schedule...so I just made sure to get it in before the stroke of midnight) for BV. Apparently, with semen being alkaline, it lowered the pH balance of my vagina...It didn’t matter how much yogurt or probiotics I took in. After the first treatment, I could smell the difference the next morning. have one more treatment to go and have only experienced diarrhea once and mild itching of my arms and face, but no rash any where on my body. Maybe due to my insurance prescription plan, the medication only cost $9.00. It also came with 7 applicators."

"I was terrified after reading reviews of clindamycin vaginal for BV, I'm on the 7 day treatment. I'm on second dose and no burning, no itching etc. A little uncomfortable the first 10 minutes after insertion but that's it. I recommend this over more systematic antibiotics that can have some horrible side effects."

Clindesse (clindamycin) "My doctor prescribed Clindesse and a few days after I used it, I started having vaginal discomfort of burning, and itching when I use the bathroom. I have called my doctor's office and they haven't gotten back to me on what else to use."

"I was told to take it for 3 days rather than the standard 7 as I am pregnant.. didn’t help so I took the last 4 days and I thought for the most part it worked except for the itching that came back a day later. I took another culture test and my dr said it might be yeast just wait for results… guess what I didn’t have… yeast I still have BV!!!!"

Clindesse (clindamycin) "I’ve never suffered with BV but after having an IUD and an unfaithful partner, I developed a severe case of BV. After 2 rounds of Clindesse and a dose Tinadazole, I am much better! I got rid of them both!! It didn’t give me a yeast infection, but I loaded up on probiotics instead of my normal diflucan."

"I took the cleocin ovules for 3 days and none of the symptoms subsided. I still remained to suffer from the yellowish discharge, and shortly after received blood spotting intermittently."

"I enjoy using the clindamycin cream because it works best for my BV. The Flagyl pills are too strong and I would definitely recommend this because it works great."

Cleocin Ovules (clindamycin) "I get bv several times a year, usually after a beach/hot tub vacation….Cleosin Ovules are the only Rx that quickly and reliably work for me vs The 7 day cream of same, which is messy, longer use and less effective. Up until this year I have always been able to use a mfg coupon. Now that’s no longer available. Still, with my insurance it is *only* $70 per script, which is worth it. Bring back the coupon, pls."
