For Bacterial Vaginosis "I have always taking metronidazole gel for BV over my life time but suffered many intolerable side effects. My doctor agrees that I may have some sort of intolerance for metronidazole because it makes me very sick and suicidal. The depression and anxiety always set in day two of the treatment and subside when treatment ends. This most recent case of BV I had had enough and asked for Cleocin ovules (the three day treatment). I am on day two and my infection seems to be gone and I also have noticed not many side effects. It does not effect me mentally and the only side effects are burning upon application and some headaches and a bit of tiredness. I have not experienced diarrhea or stomach pain as some people have noted and it doesn’t cause anxiety or worsening of mental health. Will continue to ask for this instead of metronidazole. Please give it a try if you are fed up with metronidazole. This is a great alternative. Of note my insurance did not cover it."
