Staphylococcus Aureus Bacterin

Composition

Inactivated culture of Staph. aureus containing high amounts of biofilm. Contains benzyl alcohol as a preservative.

Staphylococcal bacteria are the most prevalent pathogen causing mastitis in goats. These staphylococci are frequently biofilm producers. Biofilm is a slime produced by these bacteria which helps protect them against antibiotics and the immune system. VIMCO has a high biofilm producing S. aureus strain which allows antibody production not only against S. aureus but against staphylococcal biofilm.

VIMCO Indications

This product has been shown to be effective for the vaccination of healthy goats 28 weeks of age or older against mastitis caused by Staphylococcus aureus.

Contraindications

None.

Adverse Reactions

Transient injection site swelling may be observed at the vaccination site.

ADMINISTRATION ROUTE AND DOSAGE:

Administer one dose (2 ml) by deep intramuscular injection in the neck muscles at 5 weeks before the expected parturition date and 3 weeks thereafter administer a second dose.

Repeat the same two dose regimen for subsequent parturitions.

WITHDRAWAL PERIOD:

Do not vaccinate within 60 days before slaughter.

SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS:

Administer the vaccine at a room temperature between +15 °C - +25 °C.

Shake before use.

Store and transport refrigerated at +2 °C - +8 °C).

Do not freeze. Protect from the light.

Use entire contents when first opened.

Do not mix with other products except as specified on the label.

In case of human exposure, contact a physician.
