Description

Each mL contains:

Active Ingredients

Embutramide
N-[2-(methoxyphenyl)-2-ethylbutyl-(1)]-γ-hydroxybutyramide

200 mg

Mebezonium iodide
4,4’-methylene-bis-(cyclohexyl-trimethylammonium iodide)

50 mg

Tetracaine hydrochloride

5 mg

Non-medicinal ingredients:

Dimethylformamide

566.67 mg

Each mL of T-61 contains 200 mg embutramide which produces a strong narcotic action and concurrently paralyses the respiratory centre, 50 mg mebezonium iodide which produces a curariform paralytic action on striated skeletal and respiratory muscles and rapidly induces circulatory collapse and 5 mg tetracaine hydrochloride, in aqueous solution.

T-61 Euthanasia Solution Indications

For euthanasia of unconscious dogs.

Dosage and Administration

The product is only to be used by a veterinarian. For intravenous use only.

Dog: Sedate the animal. Inject 0.3 mL per kg (0.14 mL/lb) body weight intravenously at a moderate rate.

Contraindications

Do not use in pregnant animals.

Do not use in conscious animals.

CAUTIONS:

Under unfavorable absorption conditions it is possible that peripheral paralysis occurs prior to loss of consciousness resulting in a possible suffocation of the conscious animal. Therefore, as stated in the contraindications, T-61 should only be used in unconscious animals. During intravenous injection, a correct intravascular injection of the full dose has to be ensured. Use of a venous catheter may be beneficial.

Warnings

T-61 should be handled with caution. Avoid direct contact with the veterinary medicinal product. Remove contaminated clothes immediately. If some of the drug accidentally penetrates the operator’s skin through a wound or an inadvertent puncture with the needle, the affected part of the skin must be thoroughly washed with water and soap. In case of accidental self-injection, immediately wash the wound with plenty of soap and water and squeeze out the site of puncture. If accidental eye exposure, flush eyes immediately with clean water for several minutes. In case of accidental injection, seek medical advice immediately and show the package insert or the label to the physician. Analeptic drugs should be considered for symptomatic therapy. Euthanized animals should not be used as food. Keep out of reach of children.

Adverse Reactions

In very rare cases, convulsions or excitations have been reported. Cardiac arrest may be delayed.

Note: The use of T-61 results in histopathological findings such as endothelial lesions, pulmonary congestion, pulmonary edema and hemolysis.

Storage

Store at room temperature, below 25 °C.
