RECOMMENDED USES: RumiLife® CAL24™ Calcium and Vitamin D Supplement is an oral calcium and vitamin D supplement for use around parturition in fresh dairy cows.

Directions For Use

Give one bolus immediately following calving or 2 to 3 hours after intravenous (IV) administration of calcium. Open a bolus package and insert flat end of one bolus into an appropriately-sized bolus applicator. Insert the bolus applicator into the back of the cow's mouth and deposit the bolus, allowing the cow time to swallow. Repeat with second bolus. If right-handed, position yourself at the animal’s right side. Gently hold the animal’s upper jaw with your left hand. If left-handed, position yourself suitably. Keep the animal’s head at a natural position and slightly towards yourself. Gently guide the loaded applicator into the animal’s mouth. When you feel resistance, gently guide the applicator over the tongue. When the applicator is behind the tongue, squeeze the handle to release the bolus. Wait a moment for the animal to swallow and then remove the applicator. To assist passage of the bolus down the esophagus and to stimulate a swallowing reflex, stroke the surface of the tongue or the outside of the throat. When giving a bolus after calcium injection, administer one package of 2 boluses, 2-3 hours after IV administration of calcium to provide additional supplementation. After administration of boluses, allow access to water. Ensure that the animal has access to fresh water at all times. A bolus may block the airway if not properly administered, or if not swallowed. Look for signs of breathing difficulty for 5 minutes after administering the bolus. Applicator should be cleaned with mild soap and water and allowed to air dry between uses. Each bolus provides 50 g of calcium.

EXCIPIENT INGREDIENTS: Water, coconut oil, mineral oil, gelatin, sugar, silicon dioxide, butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT), hydrogenated vegetable oil.
