Active Ingredient(s): Each mL contains 100 mg of elemental iron as ferric hydroxide in complex with a low molecular weight dextran faction.

Iron Dextran Indications

For the prevention and treatment of iron deficiency anemia in baby pigs.

Dosage and Administration

Prevention: Inject 1 mL intramuscularly per pig on or before three (3) days of age.

Treatment: 1 to 2 mL intramuscularly as soon as symptoms appear.

Caution(s): The product is not a substitute for sound animal husbandry practice. If a disease is suspected or apparent in the pigs, consult a veterinarian.

Side Effects

Acute poisoning which may result in fatalities in extreme cases is characterized clinically by prostration and muscular weakness. Organic iron preparations injected intramuscularly into pigs beyond four weeks of age may cause staining of muscle tissue.
