Calcium-Vitamin D Bolus

Oral calcium and vitamin D supplement for freshening cows, with fast and sustained release of calcium.

Waxy coating (acetylated triglyceride) provides smooth administration by allowing easy swallowing and protects the esophagus from irritation.

Vitamin D3 assists in the rapid uptake of Calcium.

Quick dissolving formulation gets required Calcium into the cow when she needs it.

Warnings

No withdrawal period for meat and withholding time for milk are required when used according to the label. Keep out of reach of children.

Cal-Evate Bolus Indications

Oral calcium and vitamin D supplement for freshening cows, with fast and sustained release of calcium.

Active Ingredients Per Bolus:

Calcium chloride - 112 g

Calcium sulfate - 53.6 g

Vitamin D3 - 50,000 IU

Inactive Ingredients Per Bolus:

Water

Acetylated monoglycerides

Xanthan gum

Indications: Oral calcium and vitamin D supplement for freshening cows, with fast and sustained release of calcium.

Cal-Evate is a supplemental source of calcium for dairy cows during the demanding period at freshening. Contains immediate-release calcium and sustained-release calcium plus vitamin D which is necessary for the absorption and metabolism of calcium and phosphorus.

Dosage: Minimum Protocol: Give one bolus immediately after calving and a second bolus 12 - 24 hours after calving. Administer using the bolus applicator.

Extended Protocol: For high yielding cows administer:

● 1st bolus at the first signs of parturition

● 2nd bolus immediately after calving

● 3rd bolus 12 - 24 hours after calving

● 4th bolus 24 - 48 hours after calving

Please discuss protocol with your veterinarian before implementation. Administration of Bolus: Remove packaging. Place the bolus in the bolus applicator with the rounded end pointing outward. Grab the cow’s upper jaw with your left hand. Keep the cow’s head at a natural position and a little towards yourself. Gently guide the loaded applicator into the cow’s mouth. When you feel resistance, gently guide the applicator over the tongue. When the applicator is behind the tongue, squeeze the handle to release the bolus. Wait a moment for the cow to swallow and then remove the applicator. Allow access to water.

Contraindications

Not for use in cows for initial treatment of milk fever, with clinical signs of milk fever or laying cows. Do not use broken or damaged boluses.

Storage

Store at or below 86°F (30°C). Boluses are sensitive to humidity and should be stored in the vacuum sealed plastic until immediately before use.
