NEWCASTLE-BRONCHITIS VACCINE

B1 TYPE, LASOTA STRAIN, MASS. TYPE

LIVE VIRUS

For use in animals only

This product has been shown to be effective for the vaccination of healthy chickens 2 weeks of age or older against Newcastle disease and infectious bronchitis, Mass. type. Duration of immunity has not been established for this product. For more information regarding efficacy and safety data, see productdata.aphis.usda.gov.

Vaccination by the intraocular or intranasal route (vials of 1000 doses only) is recommended at 2 weeks of age.

Vaccination by the drinking water route is recommended at 5 weeks of age.

Vaccination by coarse spray is recommended at 6 weeks of age.

The need for revaccination has not been established; consultation with a veterinarian is recommended.

Intraocular (eye drop) or intranasal (nostril) administration:

For use with vials of 1000 doses only - rehydrate with 30 mL diluent provided.

Remove overseal and stopper from the vaccine vial and pour part of the diluent into it. Shake well and pour the vaccine back into the remaining diluent.

Place the dropper tip on the diluent bottle. The vaccine is now ready for eye drop or intranasal use.

For eye drop use, hold the bird on its side with one eye turned up.

Administer one drop of vaccine into the open eye and hold the bird until it swallows. To prevent injury, avoid touching the bird’s eye with the dropper tip.

For intranasal use, hold the bird’s beak shut and place a finger over one nostril. Administer one drop of vaccine into the other nostril.

Drinking water administration:

Remove overseal and stopper from the vaccine vial and add clean non-sanitized water to it. Shake well and pour the vial contents into a container of non-sanitized water. Dilute the vaccine as outlined in the chart below. A dried skim milk powder should be used as a vaccine stabilizer at the rate of 8.0 g per gallon (2.1 g per liter) of drinking water. Add the skim milk powder to the water prior to reconstitution of the vaccine. Remove medication or sanitizers from the drinking water 24 hours before and 24 hours after vaccination. Rinse waterers with clean non-sanitized water. Remove water from chicks at least 2 hours before vaccination. Provide adequate space so that at least 2/3 of the birds can drink at one time. Add vaccine mixture to the water as per the following chart:
