Applies to yohimbine: compounding powder, oral tablet.

Warning

Use caution when driving, operating machinery, or performing other hazardous activities. Yohimbine may cause dizziness. If you experience dizziness, avoid these activities.

Use caution when rising from a sitting or lying position. Yohimbine may be more likely to cause dizziness when changing positions.

If you experience any of the following serious side effects, stop taking yohimbine (the active ingredient contained in Yocon) and seek emergency medical attention:

an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; closing of your throat; swelling of your lips, tongue, or face; or hives);
a very irregular or fast heartbeat; or
confusion or unusual behavior.

Other, less serious side effects are more likely to occur. Continue to take yohimbine and talk to your doctor if you experience

dizziness;
anxiety, irritability, or nervousness;
tremor (shaking);
headache; or
skin flushing.

Nervous system

Nervous system side effects have included excitation, increased motor activity, tremor, and dizziness.^[Ref]

Cardiovascular

Cardiovascular side effects have included elevation in blood pressure and increase in heart rate.^[Ref]

Gastrointestinal

Gastrointestinal side effects have included nausea and vomiting, commonly reported after parenteral administration of yohimbine (the active ingredient contained in Yocon) ^[Ref]

Psychiatric

Psychiatric side effects have included irritability and generalized anxiety.^[Ref]

General

General side effects have included headache and increase in sweating.^[Ref]

Dermatologic

Dermatologic side effects have included skin flushing reported with oral administration.^[Ref]

Other

A severe case of Raynaud's phenomenon has been reported in a 65-year-old man diagnosed with CREST syndrome (calcinosis, Raynaud's phenomenon, esophageal dysfunction, sclerodactyly, and telangiectasia). Painful episodes which affected all toes and fingers and his penis lasted 10 to 15 minutes and were relieved with heat. Symptoms resolved slowly over time upon discontinuation of yohimbine (the active ingredient contained in Yocon) Upon rechallenge with yohimbine, the patient developed more severe Raynaud's phenomenon.^[Ref]
