Serious side effects of Mentax
Along with its needed effects, butenafine topical (the active ingredient contained in Mentax) may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Less common
- Blistering, burning, crusting, dryness, or flaking of the skin where the medicine is applied
- itching, scaling, severe redness, soreness, or swelling of the skin where the medicine is applied

General
This drug was generally well tolerated. About 1% of patients reported skin-related side effects at the site of application. In controlled clinical trials, no patients withdrew from therapy due to side effects.[Ref]

Frequency not reported: Burning, stinging, worsening of condition, contact dermatitis, erythema, irritation, itching[Ref]
