If you become pregnant, discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks of using Flucytosine during pregnancy. It is unknown if Flucytosine is excreted in breast milk. Do not breast-feed while taking Flucytosine .

Flucytosine Pregnancy Warnings

Flucytosine has been assigned to pregnancy category C by the FDA. Animal studies have revealed evidence of species specific teratogenicity. There are no controlled data in human pregnancy. Flucytosine is only recommended for use during pregnancy when benefit outweighs risk.

Flucytosine Lactation Warnings

There are no data on the excretion of flucytosine into human milk. The manufacturer recommends that due to the potential for serious adverse reactions in nursing infants, a decision should be made to discontinue nursing or discontinue the drug, taking into account the importance of the drug to the mother.
