4 potential interactions and/or warnings found for the following 2 drugs:
- abrocitinib
- clozapine
Interactions between your drugs
cloZAPine abrocitinib
Applies to: clozapine, abrocitinib
Using cloZAPine together with abrocitinib is not recommended. CloZAPine can lower white blood cell count, and combining it with other medications that can also affect bone marrow function such as abrocitinib may increase the risk. You may be more likely to develop serious and potentially life-threatening infections as a result. You should seek immediate medical attention if you have signs and symptoms of infection such as fever, chills, diarrhea, sore throat, muscle aches, shortness of breath, blood in phlegm, weight loss, red or inflamed skin, body sores, and pain or burning during urination. Talk to your doctor if you have any questions or concerns. Your doctor may be able to prescribe alternatives that do not interact. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
Drug and food interactions
cloZAPine food
Applies to: clozapine
Alcohol can increase the nervous system side effects of cloZAPine such as dizziness, drowsiness, and difficulty concentrating. Some people may also experience impairment in thinking and judgment. You should avoid or limit the use of alcohol while being treated with cloZAPine. Do not use more than the recommended dose of cloZAPine, and avoid activities requiring mental alertness such as driving or operating hazardous machinery until you know how the medication affects you. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions or concerns.
abrocitinib food
Applies to: abrocitinib
Abrocitinib may be taken with or without food. Smoking during treatment with abrocitinib may increase your risk of serious cardiovascular events and of developing malignancies. Tell your doctor if you are a current or past smoker. Talk to your doctor if you have any questions or concerns. Get emergency help right away if you develop any symptoms of a heart attack or stroke during treatment with abrocitinib, including severe tightness, pain, pressure, or heaviness in your chest, neck, or jaw; weakness in one side of your body; slurred speech; shortness of breath or feeling lightheaded. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
