This report displays the potential drug interactions for the following 2 drugs:
- COVID-19 mRNA (Moderna) vaccine
- tacrolimus
Interactions between your drugs
tacrolimus SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) mRNA-LNP vaccine (cvx 311)
Applies to: tacrolimus and COVID-19 mRNA (Moderna) vaccine
If you are currently being treated or have recently been treated with tacrolimus, you should let your doctor know before receiving SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) mRNA-LNP vaccine (cvx 311). Depending on the dose and length of time you have been on tacrolimus, you may have a reduced response to the vaccine. In some situations, your doctor may want to delay vaccination to give your body time to recover from the effects of tacrolimus therapy. If you have recently been vaccinated with SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) mRNA-LNP vaccine (cvx 311), your doctor may choose to postpone treatment with tacrolimus for a couple of weeks or more. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
Drug and food interactions
tacrolimus food
Applies to: tacrolimus
Tacrolimus should be taken on a consistent schedule before or after you eat at the same times each day. Grapefruit and grapefruit juice may increase the amount of tacrolimus in your body. This can lead to potentially dangerous side effects and should be avoided. If you are already consuming grapefruit products, do not increase or decrease the amount of these products in your diet without first talking to your doctor.
