Drug Interactions between guanethidine and Urised
This report displays the potential drug interactions for the following 2 drugs:
- guanethidine
- Urised (benzoic acid/hyoscyamine/methenamine/methylene blue/phenyl salicylate)
Interactions between your drugs
guanethidine methylene blue
Applies to: guanethidine and Urised (benzoic acid / hyoscyamine / methenamine / methylene blue / phenyl salicylate)
Methylene blue may reduce the effectiveness of guanethidine in treating your high blood pressure. You should wait 7 to 14 days after you are off methylene blue before you start using methylene blue. Talk to your doctor if you have any questions or concerns. Your doctor may be able to prescribe alternatives that do not interact. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
Drug and food interactions
guanethidine food
Applies to: guanethidine
Guanethidine and ethanol may have additive effects in lowering your blood pressure. You may experience headache, dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, and/or changes in pulse or heart rate. These side effects are most likely to be seen at the beginning of treatment, following a dose increase, or when treatment is restarted after an interruption. Let your doctor know if you develop these symptoms and they do not go away after a few days or they become troublesome. Avoid driving or operating hazardous machinery until you know how the medications affect you, and use caution when getting up from a sitting or lying position. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
hyoscyamine food
Applies to: Urised (benzoic acid / hyoscyamine / methenamine / methylene blue / phenyl salicylate)
Ask your doctor before using hyoscyamine together with ethanol. Use alcohol cautiously. Alcohol may increase drowsiness and dizziness while you are taking hyoscyamine. You should be warned not to exceed recommended dosages and to avoid activities requiring mental alertness. If your doctor prescribes these medications together, you may need a dose adjustment to safely take this combination. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
