This report displays the potential drug interactions for the following 2 drugs:
- FazaClo (clozapine)
- ixazomib
Interactions between your drugs
cloZAPine ixazomib
Applies to: FazaClo (clozapine) and ixazomib
Using cloZAPine together with ixazomib is not recommended. CloZAPine can lower white blood cell count, and combining it with other medications that can also affect bone marrow function such as ixazomib may increase the risk. You may be more likely to develop serious and potentially life-threatening infections as a result. You should seek immediate medical attention if you have signs and symptoms of infection such as fever, chills, diarrhea, sore throat, muscle aches, shortness of breath, blood in phlegm, weight loss, red or inflamed skin, body sores, and pain or burning during urination. Talk to your doctor if you have any questions or concerns. Your doctor may be able to prescribe alternatives that do not interact. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
Drug and food interactions
cloZAPine food
Applies to: FazaClo (clozapine)
Alcohol can increase the nervous system side effects of cloZAPine such as dizziness, drowsiness, and difficulty concentrating. Some people may also experience impairment in thinking and judgment. You should avoid or limit the use of alcohol while being treated with cloZAPine. Do not use more than the recommended dose of cloZAPine, and avoid activities requiring mental alertness such as driving or operating hazardous machinery until you know how the medication affects you. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions or concerns.
ixazomib food
Applies to: ixazomib
Food may interfere with the absorption of ixazomib, which may lead to lower blood levels of the medication and possibly reduced effectiveness. You should take ixazomib at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after eating. On days when you take both ixazomib and dexamethasone, make sure you do not take them at the same time, since ixazomib should be taken on an empty stomach while dexamethasone should be taken with food to prevent irritation and injury to the stomach.
