Venlafaxine may increase haloperidol serum concentrations by decreasing its clearance. In healthy subjects, venlafaxine reduced the clearance of single oral 2 mg doses of haloperidol by 42%, resulting in an 88% increased in Cmax and 70% increase in AUC; however, the elimination half-life was unchanged. The mechanism and clinical significance are unknown. Dosage adjustments may be required if an interaction is suspected.
