Drug Interactions between Byetta and midostaurin
This report displays the potential drug interactions for the following 2 drugs:
- Byetta (exenatide)
- midostaurin
Interactions between your drugs
exenatide midostaurin
Applies to: Byetta (exenatide) and midostaurin
Midostaurin may interfere with blood glucose control and reduce the effectiveness of exenatide and other diabetic medications. Monitor your blood sugar levels closely. You may need a dose adjustment of your diabetic medications during and after treatment with midostaurin. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
Drug and food interactions
midostaurin food
Applies to: midostaurin
Midostaurin should be taken with food to help with its absorption. Do not consume grapefruit or grapefruit juice during treatment, as it can significantly increase the blood levels of midostaurin. You may be more likely to experience side effects such as nausea; vomiting; diarrhea; swelling; high blood sugar; heart rhythm abnormalities; and impaired bone marrow function resulting in low numbers of different types of blood cells, which can increase the risk of anemia, bleeding problems, and infections. You should seek medical attention if you develop paleness, fatigue, dizziness, fainting, unusual bruising or bleeding, fever, chills, diarrhea, sore throat, muscle aches, shortness of breath, blood in phlegm, weight loss, red or inflamed skin, body sores, or pain and burning during urination. Talk to your healthcare provider if you have any questions or concerns.
exenatide food
Applies to: Byetta (exenatide)
You should take exenatide twice a day, at any time within the 60 minutes (1 hour) before your morning and evening meals, or before the two main meals of the day, and at least 6 hours or more apart. You may experience decreased absorption of exenatide in the presence of food or other medications. Your other medications should be administered at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after your exenatide injection.
