Moderate

smallpox vaccine SARS-CoV-2 NVX-CoV2373 vaccine, recomb (cvx 313)

Applies to: ACAM2000 (smallpox vaccine) and sars-cov-2 nvx-cov2373 vaccine, recomb (cvx 313)

Vaccination with smallpox vaccine and SARS-CoV-2 NVX-CoV2373 vaccine, recomb (cvx 313) at the same time or within a short time of each other may increase the risk of myopericarditis, or inflammation of the heart muscle and lining of the heart. These vaccines individually may be associated with a rare risk of developing myopericarditis, but the risk may be greater when they are administered together, particularly in adolescent or young adult males. If feasible, it may be advisable to wait 4 weeks in between the two vaccines, unless there is an outbreak that requires prompt vaccination. Talk to your doctor if you have any questions or concerns. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
