Thiazolidinediones also called glitazones, are a class of oral hypoglycemics used in patients with diabetes mellitus. Thiazolidinediones, are insulin sensitisers that act as agonists of the peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors-gamma (PPARgamma), and they may be used either as monotherapy or in combination with metformin or with sulphonylureas.
