Usual Adult Dose for Hypertension
Initial dose: 5 mg orally once a day.
Maintenance dose: 10-40 mg in 1-2 divided doses.
Dose Adjustments
Daily dosage can increase to 10, 20, then 40 mg in single or divided doses if required. Doses can be adjusted every 3 days. For rapid management doses can be adjusted every 6 hours with careful monitoring.
Dialysis
A supplemental dose is not necessary with hemo- or peritoneal dialysis.
Other Comments
The maximum dose of minoxidil is 100 mg/day.
