"I developed contact dermatitis on both eyelids out of the blue (unidentified trigger). Both eyelids were badly inflamed with infuriatingly itchy and sore red patches of skin, both on upper eyelids and the lower ones, with some swelling. Having tried absolutely everything, including hydrocortisone cream, all with zero effect, my doctor advised I tried 0.1% Protopic. Feeling nervous about possible side effects, I was willing to try anything that might help. For the first 2 days, I had dreadful side effects of itching at an intensity I hadn’t believed would be possible, stinging, and burning. Having read that the side effects ease after several days, I persevered, but it was truly shocking. I am so glad I did. By day 3, my eyelids were vastly improved, and the severity of the side effects greatly reduced (none by day 4). By day 6 (today), my eyelids are completely recovered. Seeing my doctor in 2 days to discuss weaning off Protopic. Don’t be scared to give it a try and a chance to work."

For Atopic Dermatitis "I was given this by my dermatologist for my ezcema. Was not told it would burn or that it had a black box for cancer. Said it was safe to use on eyelid eczema. Now I have the droopiest and swollen eyelids because of it. The areas where protopic were used also have increased flakiness and prone to breakdowns."

For Atopic Dermatitis "2/4/22 I woke up to red swollen eyes. I went to my primary care doctor who prescribed prednisone. The medication made the swelling go away. When I was done with the steroids the swelling would immediately come back. I was on 3 rounds of steroids, including a steroid shot. My doctor could not determine the cause of the swelling. I was sent to see a dermatologist, rheumatologist and allergist. All of my blood work came back negative for an autoimmune disease (they thought the swelling was possibly Lupus) The allergist finally prescribed protopic last week. It was very expensive, not covered by insurance, but I was willing to try anything. I needed to get off steroids since I had been on them since February. I started the Protopic Tuesday and this is Thursday and my eyes look like they are improving. When I apply the ointment, it does burn and itch, but it is manageable for me. If it helps stop the swelling and I don't have to miss work, then I will deal with the minor side effect."

"Protopic 0.1% cleared up the scales around my waistline and the stubborn patches on the bottom of my back, between my buttocks, also on my elbows. The only drawback was the itching on my face and especially my eyebrows where I didn't even use the ointment. Also, stiffness in my muscles. It was worth it for the week I had used the ointment. I used it twice a day, once in the morning and then once in the evening. I just have to use Silcocks Base 3 to 4 times a day."

For Atopic Dermatitis "I've been using Protopic for two weeks for my eczema on my feet. Steroid creams stopped working and made the skin very thin. After being prescribed Protopic 0.1%, the first day was crazy itchy and couldn't sleep. But after the next day, I applied it again in the same spot, and it wasn't itchy anymore. My weeping eczema started to clear up miraculously. I had a few drinks one night, and everything went nuts, a burning itch where my eczema was, and it started up the flare all over again! I obviously cannot even have a small amount of alcohol while using Protopic. Overall, the best results out of any skin ointment for eczema. Let's hope after not drinking for a while, I can get a handle on this relapse."

For Atopic Dermatitis "I'm in the UK and retired now so all of my meds are free. I'd suffered with red sore patches on my face for years, and occasionally used steroid cream to alleviate things knowing it was not the best thing to do. I was referred to a Dermatologist at the hospital and she put me on Protopic 0.1 to be used once a day for a week to see how I got on with it. Like other people have said, for a few days my face felt hot but the results after 3 days were amazing! I now use the ointment for a couple of days if I get a fare up, and it works like magic."

For Atopic Dermatitis "Protopic helped my wife in vitiligo treatment. She has been using 0.03% for face, and 0,1% for body, and it reduced vitiligo almost completely within several months, without any side effects."
