"Well cant tell if it is effective or not, unbearable to keep taking it because of the side effects. Having all that I see mentioned as well: sleeplessness, bad headaches, increased heart rate, very wired, mood swings, blurred vision goes in/out affected me while i was driving, flushed face. Stopped it after first two days because of this then thinking it was a fluke took again and felt the symptoms instantly. Calling my doc to see if theres something else :("

For Immune Thrombocytopenia "I took 10mg/4 days which is recommended to anyone with ITP. I had side affects for almost a whole week I had a bloody nose off and on the whole time my vision changed couldn't drive and made me sleep a lot and a day after being off of it I had pain from my jaw all the way down to my butt. I couldn't move without feeling like I was going to break. The worst part of it all was when I told my doctor and they said it was not from the medication when it was. I didn't take any other prescription or non prescription drugs. It only made my platelets doubled in numbers and then dropped very fast."

For Inflammatory Conditions "Every time my migraines get bad enough that I end up at the ER or my back is aching from a fall (3 back surgeries), the doctors end up giving me an IV shot of this. It does work with the cocktail of meds to help calm my migraine but when it is first pushed into the IV please warn the nurse to dilute it and push it VERY SLOW as it makes your body feel like it is literally tingling on FIRE, especially your private parts. My friends call it the "crotch burner"."

For Inflammatory Conditions "Greatly improved appetite, I had been on chemo and having severe appetite loss, excessive sleeping. It has possibly caused some mild irritablility, although my husband doesn't think I am much different than normal."

Decadron (dexamethasone) "I was given a Decadron injection along with Benadryl and Epipen. Immediately after receiving all three injections, I started shaking uncontrollably. I had to lie in the office for about 45 minutes to somewhat recover before I could drive. Additionally, about two days later, I noticed a small lump appearing in one of my breasts. I thought it must be from that injection, so I didn't think much about it at the time. However, about three months later, the lump in my breast started to grow larger, despite my attempts to detoxify my body through various methods. Nothing seemed to make it smaller. I had taken Benadryl and Epipen before, but this was my first time receiving Decadron. I had previously received Prednisone for severe cases of poison ivy. Fast forward to now, approximately 10 months after the injection, the lump in my breast is about the size of a small orange, and I have developed a knot under my armpit as well. I returned to the doctor who administered the injection, and they diagnosed me with breast cancer. When I mentioned that I didn't have this issue until I received that shot, they didn't believe me. It feels like they are dismissing my concerns. The way they practice medicine feels like a violation of humanity. This situation is deeply troubling and unjust."

For Nausea/Vomiting, Chemotherapy Induced "This steroid nearly killed me. Receiving as part of my chemo took 2 a day for 3 days straight after chemo. Was only on them for three months when they induced diabetic ketoacidosis. Was on life support for 10 days. Will never touch a steroid again. I have given this a high score on the bar because it did stop me feeling sick"

For Sarcoidosis "Dexamethasone 4mg (equivalent 25mg Prednisone) been effective in reducing inflammation considerably within four months, in conjunction with Humira. Side effects were less than Prednisone, and tapering to stop the dosage of Dexamethasone is taking place over a month. Humira will continue indefinitely. Patient is highly sensitive to Prednisone and high dose would not have been tolerated. Whilst the high dose of Dexamethasone did cause side effects mentally and physically, it was able to be tapered to 1mg within 2 months due to rapidly reducing inflammation."

For Inflammatory Conditions "This steroid is awful. I am a healthy, athletic, 38 year old male. I received a 4mg injection 8 days ago for a strained ligament. I have had migraines, bone aches, muscle aches, lightheadedness, and a sore throat since. Over a week later, and I can barely leave my bed. No end in sight. I would take a limp over the side effects every time. Stay away at all costs."

Dexamethasone Intensol (dexamethasone) for Inflammatory Conditions "Today, I had to refer my aged mother, 85 for her inflamation on the bruise site on the forehead due to fall down, a couple of days ago. I referred her to my family doctor who admistered Dexamethasone Injection IP 2 ml. Within 5minutes she developed breathing heaviness, and she gasped for breath, and was about to be swooned. Fortunately, as the doctor swung into action and administerd her Deriflin inj, and after four hours she returned to normal. This is a worst and risky medicine if I have to say something on this. 24.Nov.2016"

For Immune Thrombocytopenia "My platelet count went down to 15k; doctor prescribed this med. Took 10, 4mg, pills in the morning for 4 days then stopped. CBC Platelet count went up to 90k. However for the 5 days that followed; I was in utter pain. Extreme abdominal pain, voice was hoarse, felt like my throat was on fire, headache and sensitivity to light, and the worse was the abdominal bloat. I couldn't move with it being laborious and having shortness of breath. Not a pill I would ever take again. A week later, CBC Platelets were back down to 15k. I can live with that."

For Eczema "I was admitted for a nasal surgery, but the doctor gave me dexamethasone 0.5mg to prevent allergies. My eczema disappeared & I feel better. I did some research on this prescription, it is a kind of steroid & you cannot take it usually or daily. Better to consult with a doctor. But I would love to take it if I have better information & with doctor consultation."

For Inflammatory Conditions "I started the Dexamethasone 4MG only two mornings ago. The second day (yesterday) most of the pain was gone. However, beginning yesterday I've had 9 or 10 bouts of hi-coughing. Including 2 to 3:30 this morning. That symptom is not listed anywhere but it does seem odd that I hadn't suffered hi-coughs in years and years and never this long lasting. Until speaking with my physician in the morning, I'm having to suspect an interaction with other medicines."

For Cerebral Edema "After presenting with severe headaches and confusion two tablets of 4mg each (one in morning one later in day). A rapid progress was achieved within a day. Operated on the next day for a brain tumour biopsy any have been on it ever since. Just completed my first cycle of chemo - one bag over 3-4 hours then 3-4 days of a rescue medicine intravenously to strip it out of my system. I have a rare and aggressive Central Nervous System Lymphoma (Non Hodgkin's) which was caught early."

"I had 2 root canals and the pain afterward was severe, so my dentist prescribed dexamethasone to relieve swelling, pain and inflammation. I’ve had a headache, upset stomach and the worst case of the jitters. Food doesn’t taste right and I’m nauseated. I wish I’d been warned of the side effects. I will never agree to take this medication again."

For Cerebral Edema "2.5 cm tumor was found in MRI. Had been having seizures. Was prescribed Dexamethasone. I chose a different hospital for surgery. No one followed up from the original one, so I was on this medication for months. It wasted my leg muscles, I could barely get up a flight of stairs. Use as little of this medication as possible, it will tear you down. Strictly for short duration to reduce edema before surgery, IMO."

For Atopic Dermatitis "on April I was given dexamethasone for an allergy reaction I had to something I ate. I had dexamethasone as an injection and pills that I took for 3 days. On the 3rd day I stopped taking them because I developed adverse side effects like : fog in my head, confusion, numbness on my right side of head blurry vision, adrenaline feeling in my head, dry mouth, lost appetite and diarrhea along with depression and anxiety. After 3 weeks all my side effects were gone except anxiety and mild depression. I’m on 5 weeks since I stopped taking medication and I’m still struggling with anxiety and depression. So far side effects come and go. Some days I have it done I don’t or it comes in and out through out the day. Side effects are horrible. I can’t wait for this to be over."

Decadron (dexamethasone) "I just received the injection today and I had been told in the beginning that I was not getting a cortisone shot that was the only reason I agreed to it. I see nothing on the list of conditions this is supposed to help with pinched nerves, stenosis, or disc disease. They put it in the nerve, I believe. They said it could alleviate the pain I feel and the numbness and tingling in my hands and arms. They told me that it wouldn't help my back pain because of where the shot was given and it wasn't authorized. All evening the pain in the middle to bottom of my back hurts so bad I have taken 30 minutes to type this and use my arms. If I am using them too much I can't stand the pain in my back. I am sorry I know this probably isn't the review that was appropriate, but I needed some suggestions and/or opinions."

For Inflammatory Conditions "I have severe facet arthritis and along with it chronic piriformis syndrome. My Dr suggested a trigger point injection for the piriformis pain that was also causing sciatica. I had a series of injections over the last nine months and the last one tanked me. I was extremely fatigued for two days and then lab work showed my testosterone levels were almost depleted. I developed muscle weakness in my legs and arms and severe depression. I have steroid induced myopathy and am still fatigued (despite replacement of my testosterone) and depressed. While this medication can be a god send for some, for me it has been nothing short of a nightmare. Now seeing an endocrinologist for the myopathy and possibly adrenal insufficiency. I am a healthy, fit and normally happy 55 y/o woman, despite my bad back. Know the risks of this medication. I did not. I felt suicidal for almost two weeks before that faded and now I’m just flat, fatigued and praying this resolves."

"I was given a harsh regiment of this drug. I took 50 (5mg) pills over four days leading up to my surgery. The hope was it would minimize the pressure on my spinal cord caused by a tumor and in doing so prevent any additional injury to the spinal cord until they came up with a game plan to remove the tumor. It worked but kept me wired the whole time... I literally did not sleep for 5 days."

For Plaque Psoriasis "Started the take this medicine for a tongue condition (Geographical tongue). I read it lowers my immune system and it definitely does. I only have one more day of it thank goodness. I feel horrible. My head hurts, my eyes are watery, & I constantly feel achey. I don't really see a difference in my tongue either. Just want to be off this medicine! Let's hope the withdrawals aren't bad either."
