Can you drink coffee while on antidepressants?

Hi, Shawn!
Yes, maybe. For most users a cup or two may not be harmful but it all depends on how you respond to the combination.
Caffeine can "boost" the amount of antidepressant in your bloodstream making you more sensitive to the side effects and lengthening the time the antidepressant stays in your system. Also, if you're being treated for an anxiety disorder caffeine can increase your symptoms and even provoke panic attacks.
The National Institutes of Health recommend keeping your caffeine intake to under four 8oz cups a day. Remember too that caffeine is also present in tea, some soft drinks, energy drinks, even chocolate.
