I have taken lexapro about 3 years ago fo. Little anxiety and took it for 8 months and tapered off slowly and everything was great! Now I have been on it again a second time due to anxiety from stress.I have been on it for 5 weeks n I did feel like my anxiety disappeared the 2nd week n now for the past 2 weeks i have been waking up with anxiety again(nothing big) and some days I feel my mind racing like crazy.so I'm wondering if its just not working this Time.
I was wondering if anyone has take lexapro a second time around and it worked the same?

Apparently, if you had success with an antidepressants previously, and they stopped working, you can technically start them again, after a waiting period. since you haven't been on Lexapro for three years, not only will you have to go through the break in period again, but it will work again. sometimes you need a larger dose or give it more time. Best wishes to you, and I hope that you find peace soon!!
of course, you can *technically start them again*. stating they "will" work is not only incorrect, but it creates false hope. look it up or ask your doctor. i am sure we all hope that it will work again, but only time will tell.
I agree, only time will tell, but I have been on the same A/D several times over the years, and it always worked again.
so happy you haven't had the experience of a drug not working for you the second time around. hope it never happens to you, it's most annoying and frustrating.
i read about this all the time, just can't understand it, bet it is an interesting answer. not just with lexapro, but lots of ad. happened to me twice (cymbalta and pristiq). one of these days i hope to research it or maybe someone on this forum knows why so many of these meds aren't effective when you stop and take it a second time.
i hope for you it will eventually kick in and give you the relief you need.
Thank you.I as well hope it does the job.this is the first ssri I ever tried n it was my miracle pill n now that I'm on it again a second tim I hope it has the same effect as the first time.I do not want it to fail on me and for me to keep trying new meds and see what works.I do feel less anxious and like its helping a little.so I guess I'll give it a few more weeks.thank u for ur reply!
Hello roxo1216. I believe that your body is once again having to adjust itself to the drug. I would give it some more time. (two weeks) If you find no improvement, ask your doctor what might be done to help ease the problem. (such as a adjustment to your dose) Regards pledge
Yeah it probably needs more time to adjust to my body.I just get impatient sometimes and want it to work quick.I am aware it can take up to 4-6 weeks or sometime even more to feel the full effect of the pill.when I took lexapro the first time around I was on 5mg n that worked great for me! And my anxiety was way worse back then.my doc said I was going through postpartum.this time its due to stress so I'm hoping the 5mg works again.thank you for your response :)
You are welcome and have a great day.
