Hello group, I am a PhD Candidate in the Department of Communication at theUniversity of California in San Diego, USA. I am a new member of this community and grateful for resources like this!

I am not sure the scope of this group, but thought I would write to ask for input. My current project looks at how individual and familial narratives of TB and practices around TB treatment can contribute to current detection, treatment, control and advocacy efforts. My research is looking at how public health best practices map onto local factors that make San Diego County unique. Right now I am spending time at Health and Human Services of San Diego County and am collecting narratives describing the experiences of individuals with TB, their families and their care providers in an effort to better understand their needs and the needs of their communities.

I am currently looking to (1) talk to many more people in the San Diego/Tijuana region and (2) to expand my scope to patients and former patients in other parts of the US and world. If you are someone who has been treated for TB or know of people who have been treated for TB who are willing to talk to me about their experiences, I would be endlessly grateful if you could pass along my contact information.

Thank you for any advice you might have. Best wishes, Laurel
