I have been on the shot since December. At least once a month, I get these egg burps(Sulpher), horrible gas and diahrerea that last for 3 days. The 3 days of hell happens the next day after my shot.. Does anyone else have this? Doctor checked my gall bladder is fine.

Omg, this is happening to me. It’s the worse! The burps are the worst part/worse smelling for me. And there is so much gas and bloating. My doctor pulled me off of it as of today.
I have horrible bloating and gas.
I just started Trulicity on Sat Sept 30. Last night and today Ive had explosive diarrhea, and the nastiest burps I have ever had in my life. I swear I was having hot flashes last night after those being done for over 5 yrs. I already have enough pain and fatigue in my life from my Fibro. Depending on how long this crap lasts, I might give it another week.
I don’t have an answer but I came to say this happens to me too!!! It’s the WORST i contemplate going to the ER each time bc it’s horrible
I have been taking .75 for a year and a half plus 2 metformin. Sometimes I skip the m if I have diarrhea. I just went to 1.5 because I started teaching school and don’t get swimming in every day like I did. I heard gas is your liver trying to work too hard. I mostly avoid carbs, no sugar. Little fat. Not had trouble before till now but have had gas. I was super sick vomiting and called poison control. Too much medicine for me without exercise. I am going back to the lower dose and walking before I go to work. There is a need for vitamin C and B for me type of foods. Nuts and apples, limit fruit 2-3 times for my sweetness. Feeling better by fasting, not eating at night or until 9 am. Eat dinner1 cup by 4. Works for me. Americans eat too large of portions. Drink a gallon of water a day. Exercise and muscle work is key to this disease.
Omg for a month I thought it was my new diet. I didn't think it was Trulicity causing it. I was fine for the first 2 months with no side effects, I'm on the .75 dosage. My A1C went from 11.2 to 6.6. last month I started having sulfur burps. Lasted for 2 days and then went away. Then 2 weeks later I got them again followed by diarrhea. 2 days of hell. Most recent was this past weekend where I was so bloated with gas, I couldn't sleep on my side because it hurt too much. Then on Monday I was fine.
My cousin is on Trulicity and is a health care provider, she told me what helps is no carbs in the afternoon until bedtime and eat a light dinner. This will prevent this issue. She said it's caused by food not going past the stomach, so it's having a hard time with the digestive process. I'm going to alter my diet to see if this fixes the issue. My last shot was last Thursday so I started feeling gassy 2 days later. I'll follow-up this weekend if that's what resolves my issue. Thankfully no vomiting.
In short, yes, with the increased dosage (1.5). Lasts 1-3 days for me both weeks I've been on it. I'm hoping it subsides after a few more shots but consider yourself luckily it's only been once a month. It is hellish but some people seem to have worse reactions than others. I'm thankful no vomiting or nausea yet. I just gotta stay close to home and bear through the cramps, diarrhea and nasty burps. I'm trying probiotics to see if that helps.
I've been taking Trulicity once a week now for 14 months. The 1st 8 weeks were horrendous to the point I thought about stopping the injection. I'd get eggy burps building and getting worse over several hours the projectile vomiting. This would only last up to 24 hours then I would be fine and usually for 4 days after the injection. My diabetes came right down so I decided to stay on it and the side effects got better to the point I'd go weeks and weeks with no side effects!
The last 2 months however, the side effects are back but different. I still get eggy burps but more of a painful gassy stomach then awful diarrhea, and occasional vomiting. This now happens 1 to 2 days after injection.
As far as controlling my diabetes it's great but I'm slowly getting worn down with the weekly episodes. Anybody have any little tricks on keeping these side effects away?
My only suggestions when I'm experiencing it is to try to sleep as much as I can, suck on mints and gave a fan blowing on my face. Sometimes helps a little bit, but I'd rather not have the side effects in the 1st place
I never had these issues. For me it caused coughing that progressively got worse. Had to quit taking it. What level injection has been used for the burping, Etc?
So glad this post exists! This is my 2nd time having excessive egg burps and diarrhea. I was on the low dose for 3 weeks and only had some diarrhea after a fatty meal maybe and some cold sweats. The first 3 weeks didn't do much for my A1C or appetite so my Dr increased the dosage to 1.5. I've taken 2 shots so far and the next day after each one, I have the nasty burps, diarrhea and bad stomach cramps. Symptoms are somewhat mild except for some of the cramps. Appetite is less and blood glucose has been great. Will try some of the remedies here, but I hope it subsides. I'm wondering if I should take more fiber to move the food along or if I need to stop my diet sodas (my kryptonite). Will continue to monitor/change diet to see if there's a trigger.
I have had my 2nd shot one day ago and have the egg burping….. thought it might be from a kale salad I ate
Same, but I thought I ate bad deviled eggs!
I get the egg burps too, and some fatty foods bring it on more than others, deep fried foods, ribs, beef, that sort of thing. OTC Tagamet + Gas X cures the sulfur burps within a few minutes for me but the stomach cramps happen regardless. Only way to avoid it all together is to not eat those foods. Another tip for these shots is to drink plenty of water and regularly eat vegetables. If nothing is moving the gut stuff is worse, my gastroenterologist prescribed me a laxative and a stool softener.
I have been on trulicity since April. Amazing results. Have slowly increased to 3.0 and now periodically have bouts of sulphuric burps, vomiting, diarrhea, gas. Have narrowed it down to the day after eating high protein/ red meat. I started taking digestive enzymes and probiotics at every meal along with ox bile once a day And symptoms have dissapeared! I had a feeling it was the cause because it slows down the digestion of your food to make you feel fuller longer.
I just discovered today that Trulicity was the root cause to sulfur burps and terrible gas! Last month my stomach was so bloated it looked like I were pregnant. Drinking. Peppermint tea and/or baking soda dissolved in water, has helped tremendously!! I’ve been on Trulicity for a few years now, and just recently started having these concerning side effects.
My spouse has been on trulicity for about 6 months now, and absolutely has the burping/heartburn issue. Zofran did not help. His doctor didn't seem to think there was anything else to do--just deal with it or change meds. THe trulicity has been AMAZING for him otherwise (reduced insulin by 10 units/meal; reduced long active insulin by >50%, down 40lbs, hypertension improved to the point one medication reduced, etc).
Has anyone been offered any actual assistance with these side effects? I see some people got relief with baking soda water, gas-x/simethicone, and/or probiotics. Have any MDs or Pharmacists offered solid suggestions? Have any studies been done specifically to address the treatment of the side effects?
Thanks all!
I have complained to my provider about the side effects, but all she did was prescribe Tums, Amodin, and more water. I already drink more than the 8 glasses of water a day. I take 16 other medications a day, so I'm not up to taking any more. TRUCILITY has not changed my Blood Sugars or AIC a bit. I have the gas (from both ends) so strong it is painful. the diarrhea so suddenly I've often had to wash my bedding from top to bottom, and the fatigue. First, I didn't have much of it, but as the weeks go by it gets worse. AND I rarely eat anything, so changing my diet is immaterial. In addition, my CREATINE and BUN have risen. I tried similar medications several years back. The nausea was so bad I thought I was pregnant. I just wrote a letter to my provider informing her I AM DONE. I have felt terrible ever since I started this three months ago. Hopefully I will feel better by February. What am I going to do about the diabetes? Same thing I have done for years - IGNORE IT.
