cholmq; Just as was already posted and a very good job at that, THIS all depends on the person. and also if that is what you want to happen you have to make some wise choices in what you are eating most the people that do loose the weight that is a side effect of this medication and you would not know until you have been on it for a while. Best of luck to you but if that is what you are looking for part of the weight loss is the way you make your food choice and the medication changes the way your body chemistry process the food give it time and don't worry.

I have heard from so many that Topamax (topiramate) helps with weight loss. I have been on it for at least 10 years at various doses and have yet to find that to be so. I am currently taking 50 in the midday and 50 around 8 pm. I was on 100 in the am & 100 in the pm but could not tolerate the brain fog. If topiramate is helping me it is doing so very subtly and more by helping me not GAIN more than lose any weight.I struggle to lose even a pound and I mtake good food choices. I can say since my daughter-in-law has been on Topamax she has dropped quite a bit of weight and assures me the only thing that is different is the Topamax. She does not have all the autoimmune disorders that I have to confound the situation so she may be a better indicator. She started losing right away and continues to even today, some 10 months later.
