The amount of the drug in generics is the same as brand name Effexor but the inactive ingredients may differ. For instance, the inert ingredients in Zydus venlafaxine aren't the same as in Effexor. Different manufacturers may all use other binders, fillers, and colouring agents.
It's hard to suggest what else to try because it all depends how, as an individual, you respond to the product. You may have to try several before you find the one that works best for you.
As far as Effexor you could try calling Pfizer at 800 879-3477 and ask about savings programs they might have. Also, you could ask your pharmacist about GoodRx or other discount cards.
