First time afib. Electro cardioversion given. Prescribed eliquis 100 mg 2x a day for 30 days. When discontinuing the medication as per physician, does it make sense to you to take 81 mg of aspirin twice a day, rather than 325 mg once a day at least for several months? The 81 mg has a much shorter half-life than the 325 mg. It doesn't make sense to me given the risk of thrombosis from the electro cardioversion; then the risk of thrombosis from stopping the eliquis. Of course, all physicians involved have been asked this question, as well as pharmacologists, as well as the manufacturer. How have you handled this situation for discontinuance, please.
Question for people who received short-term eliquis for sole 1st afib?
