U will have to find a regular pain doctor an most of them only take cash very hard for u to do I feel for u
Don't mind paying cash if that is all they will take him, but finding a pain doctor that will take him is the problem. Any suggestions? I really don't want a doctor who just doles out the drugs and neither does he, he needs relief without 10 to 15 pills a day. He got himself into this mess by going to two different doctors to get enough meds to last him through the month, I would love to find someone who could actually perscribe something that would help and that he wouldn't need so many pills per day
He needs to be on something more than Lortab! Good Lord! No wonder he is so miserable! You dont use Lortab for chronic pain! He needs a long acting formula. Try some of the chronic pain websites like American Pain Society, National Pain Foundation, In the Face of Pain etc. These have a section where you can look for a Dr in your area. I'm not sure he is addicted either. I think the poor guy has just had lousy pain control and has pseudoaddiction which will disappear once he has adequate pain control. Good Luck!
DzooBaby, thank you thank you, finally someone who gets it, thanks again I will try the sites you suggested
Oh yeah ,I'm on worker comp. I found a dr. Who said he'd write ANYTHING I wanted he didn'teven examineme ,ONLY thing is I always would have to pay cash for the visit, I told him he was nothing but a glorified drug dealer & that he should be turned in he said don't even try I'll black ball you & no one will believe you & I'll make you out to be a drug seeker, I'm a dr. They'll believe me over you !!
Needless to say I went elsewhere & then my neurosurgeon sent me to the sorry ass pain management dr. I have now, she's worthless, I do know other people that do go to those kind of "licensed" drug dealers though they do exist, NOW THATS ASHAMED.
.
Rhonder,hi r you doing? would you say what your fiance' painmedications are? .It is important that support members know. You'll be so happy and so amazed how much help there will be for you. From your question,I believe that you are in total agreement with your man in seeking meds for him;otherwise, you wouldn't have tried 10 docs to get the STUFF ? waiting for your answer ..(Never give up trying to reach your goals,if you are absolutely sure your goals are PURE and give you an inner sense of security.)
lortabs is what they were giving him, I do totally agree he needs some kind of meds, I watch him daily struggle with the pain in his back. What he really needs is another surgery to take out all the hardware the doctors put in, but either way he is screwed, the company he worked for has went out of business and his workmens comp was settled long long ago. thanks for the helpful comment hopefully we can find someone. Next question lol, anyone have a recommendation for addiction specialist in Tulsa? I don't think that is his problem, but if they are willing to help and treat the pain I am all for it.
Here's my true suggestion,
((LOOOK OUT)) is a fantastic phrasal verb,it means be careful and watch out.But the idiom,((LOOOK OUT SOMETHING FOR SOMEONE)) can be ambiguous. It can be THIS or it can be THAT.If you are sincere and genuine in trying to help your man and yourself as well,?First, be sure,100% sure about the scope and the extent of his pain;he is maybe really sick .And he is"maybe" exaggerating and overstating his anguish more than what it really is.It is very well known in medical arena about all the tricks which drug-seekers do.One of which is pseudo and/or phony put-on pathetic semi-disabled body movements, combined with moaning and sobbing that seemingly and ostensibly articulate to honest deeply compassionate people. On the other hand,
physians and psychiatrists are experts and they are not credulous"naive"so as to be fooled easily by such rubbish scenarios. When this scam is failed with a particular doc, bogus patients often do long doctor shopping.Second, watch out for yourself not to get involved with the drugs, you may become a victim of addiction too.Final word,X-rays show accurate findings and confirm diagnosis, hence the proper meds are put forward.Hopefully things are clear for you by now.
Have you tried an addiction specialist? Many of them treat pain as well as addiction and may be more educated as to why your fiance was Dr shopping in the first place i.e. was he shopping trying to find relief or does he have an addictive problem? This may be the best route for him to take at this time. The addiction specailist will be able to determine if he just needs adequate pain control to stop his going from Dr to Dr or if he truly has an issue with addiction. Good Luck to you both!
i agree totally with Dzoobaby, at this point that probably is the only way to go, don't worry they won't treat you bad, they just want to help.
Unfortunately, now when any new dr calls to get you fiance's last records, that office will say he was no longer allowed in their practice due to dr shopping. If he has any one of the drs he was using that did not dismiss him from their practice and was not informed of this, I would use that doctor to obtain his previous records. It would also help if he had copies of all of his MRIs, etc., to prove he does need PM. If he was found out through his insurance records, most insurance companies now send copies off all prescriptions to any and all drs that the insurance has paid for any prescriptions from, but doesn't send old records to new drs. Best of luck to him and I hope this helps!
