What are some nutrition suggestions for 90 year old MDS patient who also has Alzheimers' disease. (Aside from the basic nutritional guidelines we should all follow.) Are some juices, etc. better that others? Are there foods and beverages he should NOT eat? Fresh fruits and vegetables are always washed and peeled.
He does not use any medical devices, i.e. wheelchair, walker and exercises daily, i.e. walks, group ball passing, parachute games. He can still communicate and smiles and laughs appropriately.
Received his last transfusion 12/17/2013 and hemoglobin count has already dropped to 7.9 and hemocrit is 24. His oncologist says I should start thinking about stopping the transfusions.
I would be grateful for any suggestions.
