I have a minor bout right now. I was prescribed permethrin cream which worked well but didn't go away. now I am prescribed malathion 0.5 lotion. does it kill scabies?

Permethrin is usually recommended first, and malathion lotion is used if the permethrin cream proves ineffective. Both medications contain insecticides that kill the scabies mite. It is important that the people you live with are also treated to prevent possible reinfestation.
