nicole0924I am currently taking Lupron to treat Endometreosis and the side-effects are too severe and I am considering discontinuing treatment. I would like to know how long after I stop taking it, will I start feeling normal again?

With any medicine you are taking, if you have side effects it is hard to say when the side effects will go away even after you stop taking the medicine. If you have stopped using Lupron and have seen the side effects go away, please leave a comment here so that we can learn from it.

I had one injection of Depo Lupron for the tx of menoreasia ( heavy rediculous bleeding) being 48yrs when I started, I had every side effect on the Lupron box! the one area that scared me the most was weight gain so I started with Bikram Yoga. I also was told the Hot Yoga would help sweat out some of the medicine. The Hot Yoga seemed to help me adjust to side effects. I became very aware of my diet and went to a South Beach type of eating, basically low to no carbs and no sugars. This really seemed to help. feeling so great and in control I neglected to get my next shot for 8months. ( not one day of bleeding) But then my problem came back with a vengence and a quick trip to the emergency room for scarry uncontrolable bleeding. The ER doc gave me an injection of Depovera as I was not sure which one I was on. ( I did not realize the difference. ) It took 2 wks for the bleeding to calm down. but my blood cell count was in the safe range.

Then after about 5 wks the bleeding stopped completely, Right until my next shot was due. I made sure I stayed on sched ( 3 months) but this time they were going to give me the Depo Lupron shot and I said, WAIT! as I realized I did not have the crazy symptoms , no hot flashes every hour, head aches and loss of libido. I have now been on the Depovera for 2 yrs and I have a light period for almost 4 wks then it stops till the next shot is due, This is good to me. as The side effects are less and my lifestyle is not as effected. The worst thing is Vaginal dryness but I use Ky and that is a lifesaver for me. My main goal is not to have a hysterectome if I dont have cancer. Now I still believe the Hot Yoga classes ( some sort of moderate exercise )and lack of sugar is a key in dealing with the side effects of these drugs. Hope this helps someone.
