I was prescribed Loestril Fe to control excessive bleeding during perimenopause. It has worked great..with some occasional break thru bleeding when I miss a pill. My gyn transferred out of town. I am in the process of finding a new physician. I am wondering how long one typically stays on Loestril Fe before you stop to see if the bleeding is controlled. Also I am concerned about finding a new gynecologist as I know some are in the "hormone therapy" camp while others are in the "ablation" camp when it comes to perimenopausal dysfunctional uterine bleeding. My physician felt strongly that ablation was an overdone procedure and took away the option of sampling uterine tissue. I am 51 yo. Any input?
