This is not an answer but I need help ! I am 58 yrs old when I think about going to the Dentist my heart pounds my hands get sweaty and some times I get instant diareha this is horrible to go through !!!

Dear Wendy. The amount of Valium that you described is extremely safe. The 10 mg that you take prior to going will calm you down. You will be do fine. you will be sedated lightly but not asleep.
Just an FYI... never allow Yourself to be put to sleep anywhere without the properly required safety equipment and properly trained anesthesia provider.

Hey pup,
I'm sure you know what Versed is. Do you know if comes as a pill so Wendy can take it the Valium. I know we're awake on Versed, but when the procedure is over, it feels like we were sleeping. I know it would be good for Wendy, but is there a pill?

Teeth out, was amazing how easy it was lol, so many years terrified and now its over. still got to have the bridge fitted next week. then some root cleaning which doesnt sound nice but now i know its do able. thank you all for your support xxx

Hey Wendy,
The Dentists I go to for extractions put you to sleep if you want that. Doesn't your guy? If he doesn't go to oral surgeons for extraction. Mine are very good. I never go to sleep and that's how I know. But there's nothing wrong with getting put to sleep. You just need someone to drive you home.
The Valium will have you pretty sedated before you get there. Don't try to drive after taking 2 of them. It won't be safe. Just go and don't worry. You will be fine.

i live on lanzarote which is a pretty small place, i have tried to find someone to put me to sleep but cant :( I went for my appointment today, totally freaked out and burst into tears in the chair, so going back moday and will take the Valium 5 (thats what it says on the prescription) before i go, 1 the night before 2 two hours before, fingers crossed i can go through with it this time

Oh Wendy, You poor thing. I feel so bad for you. I bet the dentist did too. Just try it again Monday and double you're dose. lol. just kidding. Trying to make you laugh a litte. Sounds like you might need a little laugh after that experiene. I have had three Root Canal's and something has went wrong with all three of them. I panick to go to the dentist. Last time I started crying before they ever touched me. They probably thought I was a friek. lol. I can't help it though. You have a great weekend hon. Hopefully monday will go better for you. Thank you Ruth, my boyfriend got really mad with me, he just doesnt understand how scared I am. He only wants the best for me, my teeth really need fixing and im in pain every day, will go back monday on the valium and hope i can go through with it, im going to try my best anyway.

Not to down your boyfriend, but he's not the one sitting in the chair having the anxiety honey. Some people just don't understand anxiety. It's a real thing and you don't feel ashamed dear. You tried! You will try again. That's all you can do. I understand. I flat out tell them before they do anything to me that they are going to have to give me gas due to my severe anxiety, and I am not going to feel ashamed. I can't help it. And don't you worry about it either. It's a big deal. But you will do better Monday. I will say a little prayer for you too. Ruth

Here's an idea. Maybe a lousy one, we'll see. There is a great drug for peeps like you Wendy. It's called Versed. It's Benzo but it does more than tranquilize you. It's usually given with Valium and a pain kill. However it is usually, or always, given IV. I don't know if they make a pill. Look it up and see. It makes timer fly, and you have almost no memory of what happened. You are awake, but it's like you were asleep. I'm sure pup know about it and if it comes as a pill. But you must have someone you trust with you. Use the A - Z tool at the top to check on it.
