Yesterday I explained that in 3 days I will be cut off from my Methadone clinic because I am temporally out of work and cannot pay for dosing. I asked suggestions on how to withdrawal
From Methadone at home without dying and/or being in as little of pain as possible. I received some very good suggestions. One suggestion was to try the Thomas Recipe. I am very excited to find this recipe because everything on the recipe made good sense and offered help with all of the symptoms I fear. However, there is an area in there that I believe pertains to regular opiates but not Methadone. Methadone is a full long-acting opiate agonist. This means that Methadone is an opiate that will stay in your system longer than other opiates - for its' long term effect for the opiate-addicted. The recipe states that “the goal is to get through day 4, after which the worst WD symptoms will subside. You shouldn't need the Valium after day 4 or 5”. In my experience with Methadone withdrawals the worst symptoms are just getting started at around day 4 and may last 2 to 4 weeks, depending on your dosage, how long you have been taking it and if you had to detox cold turkey. So I want to ask if there is anyone who has used the Thomas Recipe to withdrawal from Methadone. If so, did they have to tweak in the area I am concerned about? Please, if anyone has gone through this please send any suggestions you have. Thank you in advance. God Bless.
