How much is too much? My grandfather keeps telling me to take 2 vitamin C tablets in addition to my "One A Day" vitamin. I take "One A Day - Energy" which includes 60mg (100% of the daily value of vitamin C). The tablets he wants me to take are "Nature Made" brand vitamin C and are 1000mg (1,667% of the daily value of vitamin C) each. Since I am a smoker he believes I should be taking my 1 "One A Day" and 2 of the "Nature Made" tables together totaling 2060 mg (3434% of the daily value). So I guess what I want to know is if he is right and is it safe? Is this too much "C" or just enough?
How much vitamin C am I supposed to be taking in 1 day. Is it okay to take more?

I personally prefer to stay close to the recommended daily value unless I know I'm lacking in a certain vitamin. The following information is from mayoclinic.com: Vitamin C is a water soluble vitamin that supports normal growth and development, and it also helps the body absorb iron. For most people, a glass of orange juice, an orange, or 1 cup of strawberries provides enough Vitamin C per day. Any extra Vitamin C will be flushed out in the urine. Although too much Vitamin C is unlikely to harm you, megadoses can cause nausea, diarrhea, kidney stones, and gastritis (inflammation of the stomach lining). So, if what you are currently taking doesn't bother you or your stomach, I would stick with that dose.
Vitamin C is excreted in any body fluid so it would be really hard to take too much, and vitamin b is the same way. A, D, And E, are fat soluble and you can get too much of them.
