When other methods are unsuccessful. Other methods have been tried - corticosteroid injections and now they will attempt a nerve block. I just sent a message to my doctor to get the details regarding this. My insurance (MediCare/MediCal) limits things like acupuncture for pain management so I am concerned because my current pain management physician as well as my primary care physician do not want me to continue on morphine (60mg every 12 hours) and oxycodone (10mg twice per day) but, if the other methods are not successful I think I should be able to continue on these pain meds which do work. A friend of mine who is a pharmacist and also suffers from RA and has had extensive experience in the pain management arena confirmed the above as an acceptable thing to do but I am feeling unsure as to how to find, ie. what questions or what to say when I call looking for a pain management physician who is open to prescribing opoids on a long term basis for a patient when everything else has been tried.
How do I find a pain management doctor who will prescribe opoids?

There is no such thing as Pain Management any longer. I had a great doctor for several years but unfortunately he because ill is no longer practicing. I stayed with the practice, however, things were not only never the same, the alleged health care providers who remained were extremely uncaring. Pain management clinics are nothing more than a joke, and the only thing that they are concerned with is if your insurance company is going to pay, or if you can afford to pay cash.
I live in Mid-Coast Maine and have been suffering from chronic pain for approximately 8 years. The pain was controlled by Vicodin but at a cost, I was constantly sleeping, I was moody, and I was completely withdrawn. I was removed from pain medication several months ago and discovered exactly how broken my body really was. I have tried CBD & THC candies, ointments, and every over the counter product on the market, nothing at all helps. I am suffering with pain every second of everyday and need to find some type of relief. I do not want to return to being drugged like I was, although I believe a lower dose would probably work well. I only wish to have the damage that was done repaired and try to live as normal a life as possible. I have fired all of my previous doctors and am scheduled to see a new team next month, I am however, suffering, unable to sleep, or use my arms without severe pain. I have heard of a Chinese medication that is supposed to be exceptional for pain, however, I do not know the proper name so I have been unable to purchase it and I am wondering if anyone out there has any idea what this might be.
I have been told by my doctor that I shouldn't use these types of treatments, however, I should also not be suffering in pain 24/7 either. My reply to my doctors was you made the rules and I have to do what I need to do to find comfort as they do not want to help. Anyone who might have an idea what this Chinese medicine might be please let me know, I would greatly appreciate any assistance you might be able to provide.
Try some of the "real" herbal stores. Many of them will know the names of Chinese medication. These stores are hard to find so you will have to do some really deep digging to find the right ones.
My parents went to a true Chinese doctor in Southern California when I was a child. We made a trip to see him about every 2 months. This doctor mixed slaves and "herbs" that you put in hot water and drank like tea. Whatever he gave them obviously worked because they swore by this doctor.
My Best to you.
***Sorry, it should say "salves" and not slaves. Darn autocorrect.

There have been multiple lawsuits in Cleveland Ohio, where patients have sued The doctors that I have taken them off of OxyContin when I have been taking this drug successfully for many years. They won the lawsuits and were put back on vacation
I understand your frustration. I am exactly where you were. The VA gave me the same prescriptions. Then they suddenly stopped them. I told them, at 59 years old, I have had all the ejections, nerve blocks and every treatments known to man. Nothing works, except the 60 Mg of morphine twice a day. They prescribed OxyContin, but only at 5 mg. Now they stopped all of it. I have a elongated bone that chipped a piece of my ilium out of both hips. I still get stuck and on the ground for a couple of hours. In constant pain. Looking for an outside the VA doctor that understands pain been in bed for 2 months, due to the severity of pain. Walking, bending and just standing for more than 3 mins is excruciating. I am in the Temecula Calif area. If anyone can help me. I would appreciate it. Too old to play games with doctors that want to keep trying what has not worked.
It's all about money. Whether what I write next is correct is not. It's all about money. Doctors are either afraid of being sued for problems prescribing pain meds, are they end up not making very much money prescribing meds. A doctors visit $100 to $300 dollars and they prescribe meds that help you. They don't make any money on this, and maybe take a chance at getting sued for malpractice down the line. Yes, they give all these expensive tests, and the costly injections, but eventually it just down to a doctor's office visit and a couple of prescriptions. That my opinion. .But right are wrong, somehow it's about money, not what helps you to manage your pain. Doctors are afraid these days to do simple low-cost opioid prescriptions. Sad but true.+

According to Congressman Bost, there is no Federal law providing additional restrictions on the prescription of opioids. Doctors should research the prescription laws so that they don't unnecessarily burden patients with unrealistic prescription restrictions.
I don't abuse my medication and the people who do give us a bad name
