Has anyone tried Zoloft and Wellbutrin together for depression?

It is preferably to consult your doctor regarding using both 2 medication at the same tine. Self-treatment may lead to different severe health problems

You should not take those meds at the same time if one is not working ask your doc for something else,theres also a drug you can take with an antidepressant its called abilify that works along with the med your taking,hope this helps

hi nerc459,both of these drugs need to build up in your system for up to 1 month before you feel any benefits of the drug. if you were to starte taking them both and feel an adverse reaction you might be stuck with that feeling for quit some time. personally i would check with my doc or my pharmacist before you take either of them. hope this helps you to make an informed decision... pete

this was rec by my doc if Zoloft alone did not help my depression. Im not sure my ? has been answered... has any one of you been on this combination? but thank you for the concern

No Merc, I have never tried this combination. It's not that unusual, but if one at the proper dose works well, ask your doc why he prescribes 2? Unless they work on the different receptors, nuero transmitters, endorphines, uptake inhibitors, whatever..I don't see the advantage of being on 2. Hope you get the answers from your doctors. Be persistant and don't let them rush you! The answers here are usually opinions and personal experiences. Go out and get the answers you need... and deserve!

I've been on varying doses of zoloft for abt. 15 years. My doc added Wellbutrin mainly to help w the sexual side effects. I've Be
been on 100 mg zoloft /day for a couple of years. She started me at 100 mg Wellbutrin /day for the first 2 months, and just bumped me up to 125 mg/d. I like it and haven't had any problems that I'm aware of. I'm a bit more awake /restless - but she was right abr the other problem. It's easily cut my time in half !!!

Hi! I've been on zoloft 250mg for about 10
years with wellbutrin 75mg being added about
7 years ago. (then came topamax too).
This seems to be the right (all three) combo
for me. There have been really bad times, huge
crises and setbacks. But with the meds things
have just not been as devasting as they
could have been to me (breast cancer twice
infidelity, death, etc. ) the depression, anxiety
and Ocd still flares , but goes away quicker
and not quite as detrimental to everyone around me.
The lack of libido is bad - but...

I have never taken Zoloft but have been on Wellbutrin & Topiramate for over 10 years. Until about 8 years ago I had orgasms that blew me away. Now they just fizzle out just before they should. It's very frustrating & leaves me & my partner up in the air although I try hard not to show it to him. OK, I'm post-menopausal - the doctors' excuse but I have no other problems, i.e. dryness etc. just the orgasm. It has to be the meds. Most people are hoping that Wellbutrin will be the answer to their problems. It has caused mine. I hope you aren't all disappointed.

Merc I am currently taking 200mg per day of Zoloft, along with 150mg wellbutrin (both generics) as prescribed by a psychiatrist. Initially (spring 2010) I was taking Zoloft with a low dose of Klonopin (off of that now) for anxiety & depression. After a few weeks on Zoloft, my Doctor prescribed Wellbutrin to help with low energy, low libido, and depression as well. At first I did not like the idea of taking two Meds that are antidepressants, but had decided to follow my doctors advice after asking questions, etc. So far it does some to help. Hope that helps a little. Definitely talk to your doctor about adding the Wellbutrin.

yes that is what I am on now and I like it . I am still not 100 % I think I need therapy, but I have very little sexual side effects and the sex is better because I am not rushing and I can have an orgasm. when I was taking celexa and wellbutrin I could nt have an orgasm WHILE haveing sex.And I feel good.Am not nearly as nervous as I was . I am on 200 mg of sertraline and 200 mg of wellbutrin. I think if I went up on the wellbutrin the sex would be even better but m am as of now already paying 40 a month for it but it is worth it.

i take 200mg of wellbutrin twice a day and was started on 25mg of sertraline for about a month. Iam still having trouble sleeping i can stay up along time and then when i sleep it can be 10hrs or more. Compared to my past state i am doing way better in terms of my depression. However it feels like i have highs and lows one minute im in a really good mood then out of mowhere for no apparent reason i start feeling sad again. Currently i am trying to prevent a setback. furthermore, i am a female in the 20s and my sex drive is virtually nonexistent and i also have problems in terms of dryness. so the jury is still out on how well wellbutin and zoloft work together

Unlike most of the people who posted a response to your question, I have in fact taken Zoloft in conjunction with Welbutrin. I have taken the latter for about 20 years to good effect, but added Zoloft because Welbutrin sometimes makes me "jumpy." My experience is they work quite well together because they tend to eliminate each other's shortcomings and each does something that the other lacks. Welbutrin is a congener of amphetamine, so its effects are stimulative, whereas Zoloft is an SSRI, and therefore tends to act more like a sedative. The doses I use are Welbutrin: 300mg SR in morning; Zoloft: 25mg morning and 25mg evening. I highly recommend you try it.

Just started this combo four days ago... will let you know how it works! Also an adderal and colotopin... Everyones input has been helpfull... thought it was crazy for the Dr to put me on two anti depressants; now I understand it could help:)

My husband is on 100mg of Zoloft & 100mg of Wellbutrin. Every med works differently for different people, but yes they can be taken together...
